Effect of seeding on the properties of mfi type zeolite membranes
Dinçer, Eser; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
The effect of seeding on the properties of alumina supported MFI membranes was investigated in this study. Membranes were synthesized from clear solutions with a molar batch composition of TPAOH:9.80SiO2:0.025NaOH:0.019Al2O3: 602.27H2O:39.16C2H5OH on bare and seeded alumina supports at 130oC in autoclaves. The amount of seed on the support surface was changed between 0.6 mg/cm2 and 6.9 mg/cm2 by vacuum seeding method, which provided uniform and closely packed seed layers. Membranes were characterized by XRD...
Effect of structural isomerism and polymer end group on the pH-stability of hydrogen-bonded multilayers
Erel Göktepe, İrem; Demirel, A. Levent (2011-09-15)
Association of tannic acid (TA) with structurally isomeric poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and poly(2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline) (PIPOX) has been examined at surfaces to understand the effect of different molecular arrangements in a polymer repeating unit of structural isomers on the construction and pH-stability of hydrogen-bonded multilayers. Films were fabricated using layer-by-layer (LbL) technique through hydrogen-bonding interactions primarily between carbonyl groups of neutral polymers and hydroxyl ...
Effect of silver encapsulation on the local structure of titanosilicate ETS-10
GALIOGLU, Sezin; ZAHMAKIRAN, Mehmet; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Özkar, Saim; Akata, Burcu (2012-09-01)
Silver(0) nanoparticles stabilized by titanosilicate (ETS-10) framework were synthesized by following a simple two step procedure involving the incorporation of silver(I) (Ag+) ions into ETS-10 matrix via ion-exchange with extra framework Na+ and K+ cations followed by their reduction with sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in aqueous medium all at room temperature. Silver(0) nanoparticles dispersed in the ETS-10 matrix were collected as gray powders and characterized by using advanced analytical methods including ...
Effect of side chain variation on surface and biological properties of poly(2-alkyl-2-oxazoline) multilayers
Çağlı, Eda; Ugur, Esma; Ulusan, Sinem; Banerjee, Sreeparna; Erel Göktepe, İrem (Elsevier BV, 2019-05-01)
Multilayers of poly(2-alkyl-2-oxazoline)s (PAOX) with varying side chains were constructed through layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly using Tannic Acid (TA). Surface morphology, stability, wettability and stimuli-responsive drug release properties of the films were correlated with antiadhesive and antibacterial properties of the multilayers. Thickness, roughness, wettability and stability of multilayers were affected by the chemical nature of PAOX side chain, phase behaviour of PAOX and the binding strength...
