Radiometry-based range prediction for mid-and long-wave infrared imaging systems
Turgut, Berk Berkan; Bek, Alpan; Kocaman, Serdar; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2018)
The present study is about the mid- and long-wave infrared imaging systems in which radiometry-based range prediction are performed. In this study, radiometry-based de- tection, recognition and identification range prediction equation is derived by using an optical design, optomechanical and optoelectronic structure for particular targets, atmospheric conditions, and backgrounds. Analysis of the atmospheric transmittance value for four different atmospheric conditions at mid- and long-wave is performed in d...

Radar cross section analysis by shooting and bouncing rays method
Çakır, Mustafa Kağan; Tokdemir, Turgut; Department of Engineering Sciences (2015)
In this study, a MATLAB code incorporating `Shooting and Bouncing Rays (SBR) Method` is developed for calculating Radar Cross Section (RCS) of complex shapes. The code can calculate ray paths, magnetic current sheets, incident and scattered electric fields and RCS in horizontal, vertical and cross polarizations. While reflection effects are calculated by SBR algorithm, diffraction effects due to edges and corners are handled by `Equivalent Edge Currents (EEC’s)`. Wave frequency, aspect angle and number of r...
Radar range-doppler imaging using joint time-frequency techniques
Akhanlı, Deniz; Dural Ünver, Mevlüde Gülbin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar coherently processes the return signal from the target in order to construct the image of the target. The conventional methodology used for obtaining the image is the Fourier transform which is not capable of suppressing the Doppler change in the return signal. As a result, Range-Doppler image is degraded. A proper time-frequency transform suppresses the degradation due to time varying Doppler shift. In this thesis, high resolution joint-time frequency transformations that c...
