Responses of the planktonic foraminifera to environmental conditions across the cretaceous/paleogene boundary in the Göynük basin, Northwest Anatolia, Turkey
Özder, Rengin; Özkan Altıner, Sevinç.; Department of Geological Engineering (2019)
The aim of this study is to reveal the evolutionary response of the planktonic foraminifera after the Cretaceous/Paleogene (K/Pg) boundary interval in the Göynük Basin, Northwest Anatolia, Turkey. To achieve this purpose, a multidisciplinary study including biostratigraphy and mineralogy was carried out. In the Göynük area, an 8.55 m-thick section was measured, and a total of 47 samples were collected from the Seben Formation and the Hisarözü member of this formation composed of marls and clayey limestones....

The Bosphorus is oceanographically very complicated two-layer stratified strait where denser water from the Marmara Sea flows towards North under the lighter water which is frequently flowing from the Black Sea towards South. The water level difference between both ends of the Bosphorus varies seasonally within the range of -0.2 and 0.6 m. The seasonal variability depends mainly on the water level changes in the adjacent basins related to the hydrological cycle, short-term changes in the atmospheric pressur...
Response of horizontal soil layers to earthquake motions.

Response of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from lupus patients to stimulation by CpG oligodeoxynucleotides.

Objectives. Increased levels of hypomethylated CpG-containing DNA in sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may contribute to the initiation anduor perpetuation of the disease. This study characterizes the in vitro response of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from SLE patients to CpG DNA. Methods. Secretion of cytokines and IgM, cell proliferation and up-regulation of co-stimulatory molecules were evaluated in PBMC from SLE patients (n=24) and normal controls (n=24) after stimul...
