Kinetics of fcc-Al nanocrystallization in Al90Tb10 metallic glass
DEMIRTAS, T.; Kalay, Yunus Eren (Elsevier BV, 2013-10-15)
The crystallization kinetics of Al90Tb10 amorphous alloy were investigated by a combined study of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Cu-K alpha X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses and microhardness measurements. Amorphous to fcc-Al transformation kinetics were descried through Johnson-Mehl-Avrami OMA) approach based on the isothermal DSC hold at 220 degrees C. XRD and TEM revealed the formation of highly populated (similar to 10(21) m(-3)) fcc-Al nanocrystals after...
Kinetics of hydrogen generation from hydrolysis of sodium borohydride on Pt/C catalyst in a flow reactor
Boran, Asli; Erkan, Serdar; Özkar, Saim; Eroglu, Inci (Wiley, 2013-04-01)
Here, we report the results of a kinetic study on the hydrogen generation from the catalytic hydrolysis of sodium borohydride in a differential flow reactor. As catalyst platinum supported on carbon (Pt/C) was used in two forms: either as powder or coated on carbon cloth. For optimization of the system several parameters such as sodium hydroxide concentration, sodium borohydride concentration and the flow rate of the feed solution were varied. It was found that the H2 generation rate increases with an incre...
Kinetics of trona sulfur dioxide reaction
Guldur, C; Dogu, G; Doğu, Timur (2001-01-01)
One of the most efficient methods of desulfurization of flue gases involves the reaction of SO2 with activated soda in a dry system. In this work, reactivities of activated soda produced from trona by direct calcination and by spray drying of trona solution were compared and a reaction mechanism was proposed. Due to the textural variations of the solid during the reaction and due to the increased significance of adsorption of SO2, at low temperatures, a two step reaction behavior was observed. Predictions f...

Kinetics of riboflavin production by Brewers' yeasts
Tamer, I.M.; Özilgen , Mustafa; Ungan, Suat (Elsevier BV, 1988-12)
The kinetics of riboflavin production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Saccharomyces carlsbergensis in synthetic media and wort were studied. The results indicated that riboflavin was produced by growing cells only. Riboflavin production rate was proportional to growth rate of the yeasts in the exponential phase. Riboflavin was depleted in the stationary phase. The depletion rate was expressed with a first-order kinetic expression in yeast concentration. The kinetics of substrate utilization and ethanol prod...
