Selecting and Scaling of Real Accelerograms to Reduce the Scatter in Dynamic Response
Ay, Bekir Özer (2010-07-29)
One of the major objectives in ground-motion scaling techniques is to reduce the dispersion (bias) in structural response. The current scaling techniques generally modify the amplitude of each record in a bin to a target peak ground motion value. Although these approaches are proved to be efficient for obtaining suits of scaled records that would yield lower dispersion in spectral demand parameters, they do not warrant any physical basis. This study not only focuses on reducing the scatter in structural res...
ESTIMATION OF TIME VARYING GRAPH SIGNALS WITH GRAPH ARMA PROCESSES
Güneyi, Eylem Tuğçe; Vural, Elif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-9-8)
Graph models provide efficient tools for analyzing data defined over irregular domains such as social networks, sensor networks, and transportation networks. Real-world graph signals are usually time-varying signals. The characterization of the joint behavior of time-varying graph signals in the time and the vertex domains has recently arisen as an interesting research problem, contrasted to the independent processing of graph signals acquired at different time instants. The concept of wide sense stationari...
EXTRACTING EMBEDDED DATA IN 3D MODELS FROM 2D VIEWS USING PERSPECTIVE INVARIANTS
Yasaroglu, Yagiz; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2011-05-18)
A 3D-2D watermarking method using perspective projective invariance is proposed. Data is embedded in relative positions of six points on a 3D mesh by translating one of them, and extracted from any 2D view generated as long as the points remain visible. To evaluate the performance of the perspective invariant, a watermarking system with a very simple interest point detection method is implemented. Simulations are made on six 3D meshes with different watermark strengths and view angles. Very promising result...
Calculating Outage Probability of Block Fading Channels Based on Moment Generating Functions
Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2011-11-01)
Block fading channels present a realistic model in many communication scenarios. We propose a method by which the outage probability of block fading channels can be evaluated in a straighforward and computationally efficient manner by utilizing the moment generating function of a single block's mutual information. The flexibility of moment generating functions helps obtain outage probabilities in various cases such as wideband noise jamming and multi-access interference. The effect of discrete input alphabe...
