Carbon fiber reinforced plastics are most widely used composite materials in aerospace and wind turbine industries. Their superior in plane properties with light weight structures and also ability to change and design the structure and form make composites preferable to metallic materials. Composites are applied to the primary load carrying members with complex and curved geometries with the new manufacturing techniques. On the other hand, failure mechanisms of composites are different and complicated than ...
Flat winding made of aluminum or copper sheet for axial flux machines
Çakal, Gökhan; Keysan, Ozan (2021-04-01)
A novel flat winding topology has been proposed as an alternative to conventional windings with stranded round wires and other bar wound windings. The proposed winding is manufactured from thin conductor sheets by industrial tools such as stamping press, laser cutter, or water jet. As these tools are widely used in the production of electric machines, the flat winding topology can provide ease of manufacturing without significant modification to the production line. Besides, superior current ratings, shorte...

AXIAL DISPERSION OF LIQUID IN MOBILE-BED CONTACTING
Uysal, B.Z; Özilgen, M. (Informa UK Limited, 1989-7)
Axial dispersion of liquid in Mobile-Bed Contacting (MBC) was investigated employing transient-response technique with impulse input of NaCI tracer. Experiments were performed in a 0.195 m ID column. Three different packing diameters (15, 19.5 and 32 mm) and three different static bed heights (0.1, 0.195 and 0.3 m) were used. Gas flow rate was varied between 3.02 and 4.05 kg/m2/s and liquid flow rate from 2.4 to 10.4 kg/m2/s. Transfer function analysis of data yielded that Peclet number was practically ind...
