A new method for alcohol content determination of fuel oils by terahertz spectroscopy
Arik, E.; KORAL, Can; Altan, Hakan; Esentürk, Okan (2013-09-06)
In this study, we developed a simple method for alcohol content analysis in fuel oils by Time-Domain Terahertz (THz) Spectroscopy. Frequency dependent absorption coefficients, refractive indices, and dielectric constants were calculated from the measurements of pure fuel oils and their mixtures with ethanol. Ethanol mixtures of gasoline were modeled successfully with a simple model in which the mixture behavior was described with a basic contribution approach of pure liquids. The results suggest that there ...

A new route to synthesis of nanocomosites by using an unsaturated polyester matrix
Toprak, Pelin; Yılmazer, Ülkü; Department of Chemical Engineering (2004)
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of organoclay type and concentration on the nanocomposites synthesized by أIn-Situ Polymerizationؤ and أPrepolymerizationؤ methods. In-Situ Polymerization Method was in fact a new route which consisted of dispersing the monomers; propylene glycol, maleic anhydride and o-phthalic anhydride into the galleries of montmorillonite followed by subsequent polymerization. The Prepolymerization Method involved the addition of montmorillonite to the previously synth...
A PRACTICAL METHOD FOR PREPARING Ca(OH)(2) NANODISPERSIONS FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL CALCAREOUS STONES
Caner, Evin; Caner-Saltik, En (2018-01-01)
Exposure to atmospheric conditions results in considerable deterioration of calcareous building stones, lime mortars and plasters in archaeological monuments, requiring several conservation treatments. During the consolidation treatments of the deteriorated calcareous stones, compatibility can best be achieved by introducing a material that would have similar chemical composition and mineralogical structure with the original stone. In recent years, studies on the preparation of Ca(OH)(2) nanodispersions for...
A Novel Experimental Method for Microwave Dielectric Characterization of Flexible or Rigid Thin Sheets
Hajisaeid, Ehsan; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi; Akyurtlu, Alkim (2017-06-09)
This work demonstrates a novel experimental method coupled with analytical extraction codes to determine dielectric properties of flexible or rigid thin sheets in a waveguide measurement setup. This method is based on measuring the transmission phase shift with and without the material under test which is placed in the middle of two polymeric sample holder blocks. These blocks are 3D printed according to the thickness of the thin sheet sample and the complex dielectric properties are calculated by removing ...
