Syntheses of new monomeric and polymeric units and electrochemical behaviors for the use in electrochromic applications
Zaifoğlu, Nazlı Buket; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Çırpan, Ali; Department of Chemistry (2013)
4'-(Tert-butyl)-4,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)spiro[benzo[d]imidazole-2,1'-cyclohexane], 4,7-di([2,2'-bithiophen]-5-yl)-4'-(tert-butyl)spiro[benzo[d]imidazole-2,1'-cyclohexane], 4'-(tert-butyl)-4,7-bis(thieno[3,2-b]thiophen-2-yl)spiro[benzo[d]imidazole-2,1'- cyclohexane] were synthesized, electrochemically polymerized and electrochromic properties of resultant polymers were investigated. The monomers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and ultravio...
Syntheses of novel fluorinated dibenzo[a,c]phenazine comprising polymers for electrochromic device applications
Hacioglu, Serife O.; Aktas, Ece; Hizalan, Gonul; Akbasoglu, Naime; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2022-7-01)
In this study, two novel fluorinated dibenzo[a,c]phenazine derivatives, 2,7-bis(5-bromo-4-hexylthiophen2-yl)-11-fluorodibenzo[a,c]phenazine (TFBPz) and 2,7-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-11- fluorodibenzo[a,c]phenazine (EFBPz), were synthesized by coupling fluorodibenzo[a,c]phenazine (FBPz) with electron rich 3-hexylthiophene and ethylene dioxythiophene (EDOT) units. The monomers were polymerized electrochemically and their electrochemical, spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic behavi...
Syntheses of functional materials for organic photovoltaic and electrochromic device applications
Varlıoğlu, Figen; Günbaş, Emrullah Görkem; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2017)
Thienothiophene based moities are widely investigated for organic solar cell applications. In this study, after synthesizing 2-ethylhexyl 4,6-dibromothieno [3,4-b]thiophene-2-carboxylate successfully, copolymerization with commercially available donor 4-(2-ethylhexyl)-2,6-bis(trimethylstannyl)-4H-dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrrole, DTPy, was performed via Stille coupling. At each step, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy were performed for structural analysis. Cyclic voltammogram was used for investig...
Syntheses of conducting polymers of 3-ester substituted thiophenes and characterization of their electrochromic properties
Çamurlu, Pınar; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2006)
In this study three different 3-ester substituted thiophene monomers were synthesized via esterification reaction of 3-thiophene ethanol with adipoyl chloride or sebacoyl chloride or octanoyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine at 00C. Characterizations of the monomers were performed by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA techniques. Electrochemical behavior of the monomers both in presence or absence of BFEE were studied by cyclic voltammetry. Results showed the astonishing effect of BFEE on the polymeri...
Syntheses of conjugated polymers and investigation the effect of gold nanoparticle - thiol interaction for organic solar cell application
Gülmez, Selin; Çırpan, Ali; Department of Chemistry (2022-8-31)
In this thesis, five benzo[c][1,2,5] thiadiazole-based conjugated polymers were synthesized. Four of them were synthesized via Stille and Suzuki coupling reactions and the remaining one was synthesized by post-polymerization. The effect of functional groups of the tip of the alkyl chain was analyzed. Moreover, thiol group and gold nanoparticle interaction on the organic solar cell efficiency for P1-SH were investigated. Electronic and optical band gaps of polymers were found as 1.85/1.81, 1.95/1.85, 1.83/1....
