Alloyed Heterostructures of CdSexS1-x Nanoplatelets with Highly Tunable Optical Gain Performance
Keleştemur, Yusuf; Gungor, Kivanc; Usanmaz, Can Firat; Erdem, Onur; Demir, Hilmi Volkan (2017-06-01)
Here, we designed and synthesized alloyed heterostructures of CdSexS1-x nanoplatelets (NPLs) using CdS coating in the lateral and vertical directions for the achievement of highly tunable optical gain performance. By using homogeneously alloyed CdSexS1-x core NPLs as a seed, we prepared CdSexS1-x/CdS core/crown NPLs, where CdS crown region is extended only in the lateral direction. With the sidewall passivation around inner CdSexS1-x cores) we achieved enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield (PL-QY) (reach...
Nested U-ring resonators: a novel multi-band metamaterial design in microwave region
Turkmen, O.; EKMEKÇİ, Evren; Sayan, Gönül (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 2012-07-17)
In this study, a novel metamaterial topology, called M-band nested U-ring resonator (M-NURR), is proposed to provide multiple band operation with an electrically small and geometrically simple unit cell design. The M-NURR unit cell has M-nested and unconnected U-shaped metal rings printed on a dielectric substrate where each ring is primarily associated with a distinct LC type resonance frequency where L and C stand for inductance and capacitance, respectively. Therefore this M-NURR topology has the novel p...
Rectangular waveguide mode converters for creating monopulse radiation patterns
Duman, Onurhan; Dural Ünver, Mevlüde Gülbin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
For waveguide structures, there is an alternative way of creating three monopulse radiation patterns by using mode converters and radiating different waveguide modes (not only TE10 mode) for creating different monopulse radiation patterns. In the literature, different radiating modes are offered depending on waveguide shape. For rectangular waveguide, one suggestion is to radiate TE10 mode for the creation of sum channel radiation pattern, to radiate TE20 mode for the creation of azimuth difference radiatio...
Coupled fiber taper extraction of 1.53 mu m photoluminescence from erbium doped silicon nitride photonic crystal cavities
Shambat, Gary; Gong, Yiyang; Lu, Jesse; Yerci, Selçuk; Li, Rui; Dal Negro, Luca; Vuckovic, Jelena (2010-03-15)
Optical fiber tapers are used to collect photoluminescence emission at similar to 1.5 mu m from photonic crystal cavities fabricated in erbium doped silicon nitride on silicon. In the experiment, photoluminescence collection via one arm of the fiber taper is enhanced 2.5 times relative to free space collection, corresponding to a net collection efficiency of 4%. Theoretically, the collection efficiency into one arm of the fiber-taper with this material system and cavity design can be as high as 12.5%, but t...
