Textural and mineralogical evidence for a Cadomian tectonothermal event in the eastern Mediterranean (Sandikli-Afyon area, western Taurides, Turkey)
Bozkaya, Omer; Gursu, Semih; Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal (2006-11-01)
In the Sandikli-Afyon area, the very low-grade metamorphic Sandikli Basement Complex with elastic sediments and Late Neoproterozoic felsic igneous rocks are unconformably overlain by a cover succession with red continental elastic rocks, tholeiitic basalts and siliciclastic rocks with Early Cambrian trace fossils. Illite crystallinity studies reveal that both the basement and cover units were metamorphosed at high anchizonal to epizonal conditions (similar to 300 degrees C). Textural data together with the ...

Glass-ceramics containing only apatite and wollastonite crystals were produced in the system MgO-CaO-SiO2-P2O5-F by the melt casting process. The bioactivity of the glass-ceramics was determined by immersing the glass-ceramics in a simulated body fluid (SBF) and by assessing the resulting apatite formation on the free surface after various immersion durations. A 12-mu m-thick apatite layer formed on the surface of the glass-ceramic containing only apatite crystals after 20 days immersion in SBF. However, th...
Bioactive agent loaded hydrogel systems for dental tissue engineering applications
Atila, Deniz Hazal; Tezcaner, Ayşen; HASIRCI, VASIF; Department of Engineering Sciences (2021-9-07)
Use of tissue engineered oral restoration products is currently a popular approach for treating dental defects that adversely affect oral health in ageing populations. Among scaffolds composed of long-lasting porous ceramics and biodegradable natural or synthetic polymers with varying service lives, injectable hydrogels attract attention to regenerate dental pulp due to the capability of filling non-uniform voids such as pulp cavity. In this study, two types of injectable hydrogels were formulized by design...

Isoconversional methods to determine the kinetics of crude oils - thermogravimetry approach
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Nurgaliev, Danis K. (Elsevier BV, 2018-08-01)
In this research, kinetics of four crude oils from different origins are determined by iso-conversional methods using thermogravimetry data (TGA-DTG). The experiments were performed at three different heating rates (5-10-15 K/min) between 300 and 1200 K. Thermal characteristics of the crude oil samples such as, reaction intervals and corresponding peak and burn-out temperatures are also determined. Three different iso-conversional methods, known as Starink, Kissinger and Friedman are used in order to determ...
