Lead and Nickel Levels in the Black Sea Aerosols by ETA-AAS
Anwari, Mohammad; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (1992-01-01)
Air particulate samples were collected from the Black Sea atmosphere, using cellulose filters in the summer of 1988. Lead and nickel concentrations in aerosols collected at 10 m above sea level were determined by using electrothermal atomization atomic absorption spectrometry (ETA-AAS). Concentrations of Pb and Ni were high in the western part of the Black Sea, owing to strong influence of anthropogenic sources. Lead was highly enriched in the Black Sea aerosols due to the significant contribution of motor ...
Lead isotope geochemistry of Pb-Zn deposits from Eastern Taurides, Turkey
Ceyhan, Nuri; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan; Department of Geological Engineering (2003)
This study is concerned with the Pb-isotope compositions of galena samples from Pb-Zn occurrences in southern Turkey. The purpose is to i) provide chronologic information for ore deposition, ii) investigate the likely source(s) of lead in ore deposits, and iii) examine the possible control of tectonic setting and crustal basement on Pb-isotope compositions. The data used in the study belongs to the deposits located in Taurides (Zamanti, Kahramanmaras, Malatya, Elazig, Bitlis), with additional data from Nigd...
Lead determination at ng/mL level by flame atomic absorption spectrometry using a tantalum coated slotted quartz tube atom trap
Demirtas, Ilknur; BAKIRDERE, Sezgin; Ataman, Osman Yavuz (2015-06-01)
Flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) still keeps its importance despite the relatively low sensitivity; because it is a simple and economical technique for determination of metals. In recent years, atom traps have been developed to increase the sensitivity of FAAS. Although the detection limit of FAAS is only at the level of mu g/mL, with the use of atom traps it can reach to ng/mL. Slotted quartz tube (SQT) is one of the atom traps used to improve sensitivity. In atom trapping mode of SQT, analyte i...
Lead(II) adsorption on thiourea treated graphene oxide in aqueous solutions
Ersoy Özmen, Güliz; Gökağaç Arslan, Gülsün; Department of Chemistry (2019)
Lead poisoning has serious damages on the human health. The Pb+2 contamination in water affects the kidneys and nervous, cardiovascular, immune, reproductive and developmental systems resulting in Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Schizophrenia diseases. One of the ways that human are exposed to lead is through water resources, therefore, removing lead from aqueous solutions is a significant issue in our everyday life. It is known that graphene oxide (GO) is a promising material to remove Pb+2 ions due to its hi...
Lead determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry using a slotted quartz tube atom trap and metal coatings
Demirtaş, İlknur; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; Department of Chemistry (2009)
Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS) still keeps its importance despite the relatively low sensitivity; because it is a simple and economical technique for determination of metals. In recent years atom traps have been developed to increase the sensitivity of FAAS. Although the detection limit of FAAS is only at the level of mg/L, with the use of atom traps it can reach to ng/mL. Slotted quartz tube (SQT) is one of these atom traps, it is applied for determination of volatile elements; it is economica...
