PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT OF MEMS-BASED MICROBIAL FUEL CELLS (mu MFC) FOR MICROSCALE POWER GENERATION
Sen Dogan, Begum; Erkal, Nilufer Afsar; Ozgur, Ebru; Zorlu, Ozge; Külah, Haluk (IOP Publishing; 2016-12-09)
This paper reports the design, fabrication, and testing of a microliter scale Microbial Fuel Cell (mu mu MFC) based on silicon MEMS fabrication technology. mu MFC systems are operated under different loads or open circuit to compare the effect of different acclimatization conditions on start-up time. Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 is preferred to be the biocatalyst. The internal resistance is calculated as 20 k Omega under these conditions. Acclimatization of mu MFC under a finite load resulted in shorter start...
Performance evaluation of InAs/GaSb superlattice photodetector grown on GaAs substrate using AlSb interfacial misfit array
Korkmaz, Melih; Arikan, Bulent; Suyolcu, Y. Eren; ASLAN, BÜLENT; SERİNCAN, UĞUR (IOP Publishing, 2018-03-01)
We report on the growth and opto-electronic characterization of type-II InAs/GaSb superlattice (SL) mid-wavelength infrared pin photodetector grown on a GaAs substrate. AlSb interfacial misfit array was employed at the GaAs buffer/GaSb epilayer interface to reduce the dislocation density of the SL structure grown on the lattice mismatched GaAs substrate. Optical and electrical performance of this sample (SL-GaAs) were then compared with the reference sample of the same structure grown on a GaSb substrate (S...

Performance Evaluation and Comparison of Single-Phase and Two-Phase Interleaving Flyback Micro-Inverters for Grid Connected PV Systems
Kavurucu, Semih; Hava, Ahmet Masum (2014-06-04)
Flyback converter based single-stage, microinverters are attractive solution for interfacing individual PV modules to the grid due to their low cost, high performance, ease of implementation, and galvanic isolation. In such applications, discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) of operation and interleaving techniques bring additional size and performance advantages such as eliminating reverse recovery loss, switching stress, EMI radiation, and improving efficiency. This paper focuses on performance evaluation o...
