Stochastic optimal control theory: new applications to finance and insurance
Akdoğan, Emre; Yolcu Okur, Yeliz; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Department of Financial Mathematics (2017)
In this study, the literature, recent developments and new achievements in stochastic optimal control theory are studied. Stochastic optimal control theory is an important direction of mathematical optimization for deriving control policies subject to timedependent processes whose dynamics follow stochastic differential equations. In this study, this methodology is used to deal with those infinite-dimensional optimization programs for problems from finance and insurance that are indeed motivated by the real l...
STOCHASTIC-ANALYSIS OF UNSATURATED FLOW - ONE-DIMENSIONAL MONTE-CARLO SIMULATIONS AND COMPARISONS WITH SPECTRAL PERTURBATION ANALYSIS AND FIELD OBSERVATIONS
Ünlü, Kahraman; BIGGAR, JW (1990-09-01)
A numerical experiment was designed to study the stochastic behavior of one‐dimensional transient unsaturated flow in a Monte Carlo setting. Soil hydraulic properties, log‐saturated hydraulic conductivity ln Ks, pore size distribution parameter α, and the specific water capacity C are assumed to be statistically homogeneous random fields described by exponential correlation functions with identical correlation lengths. Fifty realizations of each soil hydraulic property, with statistical properties obtained ...

Endogenous signal peptides in recombinant protein production by Pichia pastoris: From in-silico analysis to fermentation
Massahi, Aslan; Çalık, Pınar (2016-11-07)
For extracellular recombinant protein production, the efficiency of five endogenous secretion signal peptides (SPs) of Pichia pastoris, SP13 (MLSTILNIFILLLFIQASLQ), SP23 (MKILSALLLLFTLAFA), SP24 (MKVSTTKFLAVFLLVRLVCA), SP26 (MWSLFISGLLIFYPLVLG), SP34 (MRPVLSLLLLLASSVLA), selected based on their D-score which quantifies the signal peptide-ness of a given sequence segment, was investigated using recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) as the model protein. The expression was conducted under glyceraldehyde-3-p...
Stochastic modelling of biochemical networks and inference of modelparameters
Purutçuoğlu Gazi, Vilda (null, Springer, 2018-01-01)
There are many approaches to model the biochemical systems deterministically or stochastically. In deterministic approaches, we aim to describe the steady-state behaviours of the system, whereas, under stochastic models, we present the random nature of the system, for instance, during transcription or translation processes. Here, we represent the stochastic modelling approaches of biological networks and explain in details the inference of the model parameters within the Bayesian framework.
