High-Efficiency Optical Gain in Type-II Semiconductor Nanocrystals of Alloyed Colloidal Quantum Wells
Guzelturk, Burak; Keleştemur, Yusuf; Olutas, Murat; Li, Quyang; Lian, Tianquan; Demir, Hilmi Volkan (2017-11-01)
Colloidal nanocrystals having controlled size, tailored shape, and tuned composition have been explored for optical gain and lasing. Among these, nanocrystals having Type-II electronic structure have been introduced toward low-threshold gain. However, to date, their performance has remained severely limited due to diminishing oscillator strength and modest absorption cross-section. Overcoming these problems, here we realize highly efficient optical gain in Type-II nanocrystals by using alloyed colloidal qua...
High performance chromium (VI) removal from water by polyacrylonitrile-co-poly (2-ethyl hexylacrylate) and polyaniline nanoporous membranes
Bozkir, Selcuk; SANKIR, MEHMET; Semiz, Levent; DEMİRCİ SANKIR, NURDAN; Usanmaz, Ali (2012-08-01)
This article reports the chromium (VI) removal from water by preparing polyacrylonitrile-co-poly (2-ethyl hexylacrylate) (PAN(92)-co-P2EHA(8)) and polyaniline (PANI) nanoporous membranes at various PANI loadings. It was observed that chromium (VI) rejections of nanoporous membranes are highly concentration and pH dependent. Almost complete chromium removal (99.9%) with higher flux values (120-177 L m-2 h-1) was observed for nanoporous membranes. Moreover, nanoporous membranes were also demonstrated as fouli...
High operating temperature mid-wave infrared HgCdTe photodiode design
Yurtseven, Eray; Kocaman, Serdar; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
Infrared focal plane arrays are critical components in many of the military and civilian applications for advanced imaging systems. HgCdTe is one of the most widely used infrared detector material. An important issue with this material for thermal imaging system is the operating temperature as it determines cryocooler crucial characteristics, namely power comsumption and device lifetime. Therefore, there is an effort towards to operate at higher temperatures, but performance characteristics need to be caref...
