Direct and blind deconvolution for multidimensional signals
Üney, Murat; Tuncer, T.Engin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2001)
Direct Adaptive Limit and Control Margin Estimation with Concurrent Learning
Gursoy, Gonenc; Yavrucuk, İlkay (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2016-6)
In this paper, two vital signals to enable flight envelope protection, namely the onset to the flight envelope (limit margin) and the available control travel to reach the limit boundary (control margin), are estimated using improved noniterative adaptive neural-network-based approximate models. The adaptive elements use current and past information (concurrent learning) and have guaranteed signal bounds. Minimum singular value maximization is used to record data for concurrent learning. Results showed bett...
Cooperative learning instruction for conceptual change in the concepts of chemical kinetics
TAŞTAN KIRIK, ÖZGECAN; Boz, Yezdan (2012-01-01)
Learning is a social event and so the students need learning environments that enable them to work with their peers so that they can learn through their interactions. This study discusses the effectiveness of cooperative learning compared to traditional instruction in terms of students' motivation and understanding of chemical kinetics in a high school chemistry course. Participants were 110 eleventh grade students from two different schools. The researchers administered the Reaction Rate Concept Test to me...
Direct perception of traversibility affordance on range images through learning on a mobile robot
Uğur, Emre; Şahin, Erol; Department of Computer Engineering (2006)
In this thesis, we studied how physical affordances of the environment, such as traversibility for a mobile robot, can be learned. In particular, we studied how the physical properties of the environment, as acquired from range images obtained from a 3D laser scanner mounted on a mobile robot platform, can specify the traversibility affordance. A physics based simulation environment is used during exploration trials, where the traversibility affordances and the relevant features for each behavior are learne...
Direct and real-time observation of sub-micron domain dynamics in magnetically biased strontium ferrite permanent magnets by room temperature scanning micro-Hall probe microscopy
Sandhu, Adarsh; Iida, Naoji; Masuda, Hiroshi; Oral, Ahmet; Bending, Simon J. (2001-01-01)
A room temperature scanning micro-Hall probe microscope (RT-SHPM) was used for imaging stray magnetic field fluctuations at the surfaces of strontium ferrite permanent magnets (SFM) in the presence of external bias fields. The RT-SHPM enables the extremely fast, non-invasive, and quantitative measurement of localized surface magnetic fields on the sub-micron-scale. A 0.8 × 0.8 μm2 GaAs/AlGaAs micro-Hall probe (300K Hall coefficient = 0.3Ω/G; field sensitivity = 0.04 G/√Hz) with an integrated STM tip for pre...
