Estimation of disease progression for ischemic heart disease using latent Markov with covariates
Oflaz, Zarina; Yozgatlıgil, Ceylan; Kestel, Sevtap Ayşe (2022-06-01)
Contemporaneous monitoring of disease progression, in addition to early diagnosis, is important for the treatment of patients with chronic conditions. Chronic disease-related factors are not easily tractable, and the existing data sets do not clearly reflect them, making diagnosis difficult. The primary issue is that databases maintained by health care, insurance, or governmental organizations typically do not contain clinical information and instead focus on patient appointments and demographic profiles. D...
Determination of factors ınfluencing distortion of carburized quenching of steel shafts using DoE with computer simulations
Yılmaz, Hasan; Yazır, Büşra; Yıldız, Seçil; Davut, Kemal; Şimşir, Caner (UCTEA Chamber Of Metallurgical And Materials Engineers; TMMOB Metalurji ve Malzeme Mühendisleri Odası; 2016-12-01)
Carburizing treatments involve longer holdings at the austenite region, which can produce a range of different prior-austenite grain sizes (PAGS) depending on the growth behavior. The PAGS influences hardenability, phase transformation kinetics and hence the final phase fraction; and therefore the final mechanical properties. Since the high-temperature austenite structure is transformed during subsequent cooling steps, controlling the formation of desired austenitic structure during carburizing treatment is...
Estimation of Indian and Turkish Hexaploid Wheat Population Structure Employing Molecular Markers

Bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) is the most commonly grown crop due to its adaptation in a wide range of ecogeographical conditions and providing enhanced food assurance to the modern world. A diverse and rich collection is the foundation of each successful wheat improvement program. Therefore, major efforts are in progress worldwide to boost wheat production by broadening genetic diversity. Accepting this issue as a target, present study gives an overview of the major progress in the diversity and populati...
Forecasting the prices of non-ferrous metals with GARCH models & volatility spillover from world oil market to non-ferrous metal markets
Bulut, Burçak; Soytaş, Uğur; Department of Business Administration (2010)
In the first part of this thesis the prices of six non-ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, lead, nickel, tin, and zinc) are used to assess the forecasting performance of GARCH models. We find that the forecasting performances of GARCH, EGARCH, and TGARCH models are similar. However, we suggest the use of the GARCH model because it is more parsimonious and has a slightly better statistical performance than the other two. In the second part, the prices of six non-ferrous metals and the price of crude oil are us...
Measurement of the underlying event activity in pp collisions at root s=0 9 and 7 TeV with the novel jet-area/median approach
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-08-01)
The first measurement of the charged component of the underlying event using the novel "jet-area/median" approach is presented for proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7TeV. The data were recorded in 2010 with the CMS experiment at the LHC. A new observable, sensitive to soft particle production, is introduced and investigated inclusively and as a function of the event scale defined by the transverse momentum of the leading jet. Various phenomenological models are compared to data,...
