High-throughput omics technologies have revolutionised biological researchby enhancing our understanding of fundamental molecular processes. Despitethe recent advances in evolutionary genomics, human brain development isstill poorly understood. We have combined transcriptomics with four massspectrometry (MS)-based omics technologies: proteomics, metallomics, glycomics and lipidomics, to gain new insights into human braindevelopment. The integrated multiomics approach was employed toinvestigate the human dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) throughoutpost-natal development from 69 individuals aged six weeks to 49 years. TheDLPFC is implicated in a variety of complex behaviors and strongly linked topersonality development. High-dimensional data was analyzed using rigorousstatistical methods at different post-natal developmental stages acrossmultiple omics layers. This integrative multiomics approach reveals novelinsights into the critical stages of cognitive development.

Hydrothermal method for doping of zinc oxide nanowires and fabrication of ultraviolet photodetectors
Afal, Ayşegül; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Turan, Raşit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2012)
Nanotechnology comprises of the understanding and control of materials and processes at the nanoscale. Among various nanostructured materials, semiconducting nanowires attract much interest for their novel physical properties and potential device applications. The unique properties of these nanowires are based on their high surface to volume ratio and quantum confinement effect. Zinc oxide, having a direct, wide bandgap and large exciton binding energy, is highly appealing for optoelectronic devices. Due to...
Assessment of changes in the dielectric properties of multidrug resistant cancer cells by electrorotation technique /
Bahrieh, Garsha; Külah, Haluk; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
With recent advances in microfabrication technologies different methodologies are employed to study the dielectric properties of the biological systems. These include electrorotation (ER), dielectrophoresis, microelectrical impedance spectroscopy, and impedance flow cytometry. Among them, ER is utilized as a high accuracy approach in determining the membrane and interior dielectric properties of single cells. In addition, in cancer therapy, cancer cells are developing resistance toward the chemotherapeutic ...

Gunal, Gulcin; Okan, Meltem; Gökcen, Dinçer; Çaykara, Tuncer; Aydın, Halil Murat (2020-06-01)
Introducing functional synthetic biomaterials to the literature became quite essential in biomedical technologies. For the growth of novel biomedical engineering approaches, progressive functional properties as well as the robustness of the manufacturing processes are essential. By using acid-induced epoxide ring-opening polymerizations through catalysts, a wide variety of biodegradable and functionalized biomaterials can be synthesized. Sebacic acid (SA) and poly(ethylene glycol) diglycidyl ether (PEGDGE) ...
Impact of imputation on the cell type identification in scrna-seq datasets
Avşar, Gülben; Pir, Pınar (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Enformatik Enstitüsü; 2022-10)
Single-cell RNA sequencing technologies allow investigation of the cellular heterogeneity and processes in high resolution. However, the technical limitations and biological factors give rise to challenges in the analyses and interpretations of the scRNA-seq data. One of the most challenging features of the scRNA-seq datasets is the sparsity which is caused by dropouts. To eliminate the effects of the dropouts on downstream analysis, numerous methods have been generated with distinct approaches to impute th...
Bistriphenylamine- and benzodithiophene- based random conjugated polymers in ternary blend bulk heterojunction organic solar cells
Toppare, Levent Kamil; Alemdar, Eda; Hacıoğlu, Şerife; Çırpan, Ali (Middle East Technical University; 2018-07-06)
Concept of Ternary organic solar cell is one of the most promising topics in photovoltaic studies. However, because of the complicated phase separation systems, improving the power conversion efficiency is quite compelling. In this study, a ternary organic solar cell with two donors Poly[[4,8-bis[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy]benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']dithiophene-2,6-diyl][3- fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl)carbonyl]thieno[3,4-b]thiophenediyl]] (PTB7) and benzodithiophenebased random conjugated polymers (P1 and P2) and one fullerene ...
