Query interface and query language for domain specific web service discovery system
Özdil, Hilal; Karagöz, Pınar; Department of Computer Engineering (2011)
As the number of the published web services increase, discovery of the web services with the desired functionality and quality is becoming a challenging process. Selecting the appropriate web services among the ones that o er the same functionality is also a challenging task. The web service repositories like UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration) support only the syntactic searchs. Quality of service parameters for the published web services can not be queried over these repositories. We ha...
Query Age of Information: Optimizing AoI at the Right Time
Ildiz, M. Emrullah; Yavascan, Orhan T.; Uysal, Elif; Kartal, O. Tugberk (2022-01-01)
This paper is eligible for the Jack Keil Wolf ISIT Student Paper Award. We study a communication system in which a source node is to send status updates over a channel to a remote destination. The update packets will be received error-free, however the channel imposes independent and identically distributed transmission delay on each transmission. The destination node will utilize the upcoming update packets at certain instants that are referred to as query instants. The Query Age of Information (QAoI) at t...
QUERY AGE OF INFORMATION IN COMMUNICATION NETWORKS
Ildız, Muhammed Emrullah; Uysal, Elif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2002-8-22)
We study a pull-based status update communication model where a source node submits update packets to a channel with random transmission delay, at times requested by a remote destination node. The objective is to minimize the average query-age-of-information (QAoI), defined as the age of information (AoI) measured at query instants that occur at the destination side according to a stochastic arrival process. In reference to a push-based problem formulation defined in the literature where the source decides ...
Querying Class-Relationship Logic in a Metalogic Framework
Nilsson, Jorgen Fischer (2011-10-28)
We introduce a class relationship logic for stating various forms of logical relationships between classes. This logic is intended for ontologies and knowledge bases and combinations thereof. Reasoning and querying is conducted in the DATALOC logical language, which serves as an embracing decidable and tractable metalogic.
Querying Fuzzy Spatiotemporal Databases: Implementation Issues
Soezer, Aziz; Yazıcı, Adnan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Petry, Frederick E. (2010-01-01)
Modeling and querying spatiotemporal data, in particular fuzzy and complex spatial objects representing geographic entities and relations are challenging topics that have many applications in geographic information systems. In a recent article the authors have presented an approach to these problems. The present chapter focuses on the issues that arise from implementing this approach. As a case study the implementation of a meteorological database application that combines an object-oriented database with a...
