Image based flight data reconstruction using aeroballistic range yaw cards
Karail, Kürşat; Platin, Bülent Emre; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
The only aeroballistic laboratory of Turkey is the Flight Mechanics Laboratory, FML of TÜBITAK - SAGE. In FML, flight profiles of projectiles are reconstructed using their tear marks on paper sheets, called yaw cards. Tear marks are created on yaw cards as projectiles pass through them. These yaw cards are tightly stretched to metal frames which are positioned normal to the direction of projectile flight path. The use of yaw cards for flight profile reconstruction is a low cost and reliable solution. Howeve...
Development of a sabot design tool for aeroballistic range testing
Kafdağlı, Karaca Efe; Kayran, Altan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2006)
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the general design and analysis principles of sabots and to develop a sabot design tool. Structures which support and align the models in gun bore, and separate without disturbing the flight path of models are called sabots. In the scope of this study, structurally critical regions and loads acting on sabots due to acceleration in the gun are determined. To calculate the loads acting and to size the sabots, approximate relations are derived by the help of strength of...
Aeroelastik Tahminler için müşterek çalışma
Atik, Hediye; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Tüzün, Aydın (2019-03-01)
Aeroelasticity studies consist of the interaction and energy transfer between the elastic structure of an aircraft and the aerodynamic loads acting on it during the flight. Aeroelastic effects have a major influence on the design and flight performance of an aircraft. Since subsonic transport and military aircrafts start to operate in transonic regime, determination of the effects of the coupling between aerodynamic loads and elastic forces became important. For high aspect ratio wings, aeroelastic behaviou...
Investigation of the flexible missile fins under aerothermal loadings
Özkökdemir, Emir; Kurtuluş, Dilek Funda; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2018)
Wings or fins on the body flying at the supersonic speed are subjected to the aerothermal loading. These loads are categorized into two main groups; aerodynamic pressure and aerodynamic heating. They affect the strength of wings. In this thesis study, a flexible NACA 65-009 wing of a missile flying at supersonic speed is investigated. It is studied to define the effect of the change in wing geometry by the external loads on the flow characteristics. The flow simulations are carried on Ansys Fluent that uses...
