Response of rough and acute surfaces of pyrite with 3-D approach to the flotation
Hicyilmaz, C.; Ulusoy, U.; Bilgen, S.; Yekeler, M.; Akdogan, G. (2006-07-01)
This study presents a new 3-D approach to determine the morphological properties of pyrite particles by Brunauer - Emmett - Teller (BET) nitrogen gas adsorption and Permaran methods. The obtained parameters, which are surface roughness and acuteness, were correlated with the floatability of those mineral particles. The flotation performances of the pyrite particles ground in different mills were also evaluated by a Hallimond tube. The results showed that lower roughness and acuteness values caused higher fl...
Response of reinforced concrete beams with clamps applied externally: an experimental study
Altin, S; Tankut, T; Anil, O; Demirel, Y (Elsevier BV, 2003-07-01)
In recent years, there has been an increased interest in strengthening and repairing existing concrete structures, and this process requires a vast monetary investment. Therefore, today there is a need to find an appropriate and economical method to strengthen and to repair existing concrete structures. The purpose of this study is to perform experiments to understand the behavior of beams under flexure by attaching external clamps, which will behave like stirrups to improve their shear strength. This curre...
Response of acoustic imaging systems using convergent leaky waves to cylindrical flaws
Günalp, Nilgün; Atalar, Abdullah (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 1989-9)
A theoretical study of imaging systems utilizing focused leaky surface acoustic waves (SAWs), and their response to certain kind of defects is presented. In particular, circular cylindrical inhomogeneities with axes perpendicular to the surface are considered. The scattering of the SAW from this cylinder is formulated with some approximations. The surface wave incident on the inhomogeneity is initially found as an angular spectrum of plane waves. However, to apply the boundary conditions at the cylindrical ...
