Investigation of rough surface scattering of electromagnetic waves using finite element method
Aşırım, Özüm Emre; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa; Özgün, Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2013)
This thesis analyzes the problem of electromagnetic wave scattering from rough surfaces using finite element method. Concepts like mesh generation and random rough surface generation will be discussed firstly. Then the fundamental concepts of the finite element method which are the functional form of a given partial differential equation, implementation of the element coefficient matrices, and the assemblage of elements will be discussed in detail. The rough surface and the overall mesh geometry will be imp...
Investigation of warpage behavior of single crystal silicon on a silicon Adhesive ceramic integrated structure at cryogenic temperatures
Baloğlu, Can; Okutucu Özyurt, Hanife Tuba; Dursunkaya, Zafer (2016-03-17)
Understanding thermal stress and warpage behavior of heterogeneous component assemblies is vital in infrared sensor applications of silicon semiconductor material. The silicon semiconductor warpage behavior of the integrated structure composed of silicon material itself, an adhesive layer and a ceramic layer is analyzed by both FEM and experimental studies. The studies are performed between room temperature and 80 K. Thickness of each layer has an effect on the warpage. The silicon warpage of the initial ba...
Investigation of unsteady wake-separated boundary layer interaction using particle-image-velocimetry
Uzol, Oğuz; Cranstone, Alex; Hodson, Howard (2007-05-17)
The current paper presents an experimental investigation of the interaction between unsteady wakes and the separated boundary layer on the suction side of an ultra-high-lift low-pressure turbine airfoil. Two-dimensional Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements of the unsteady boundary layer over the T106C LP turbine profile were performed in a low speed linear cascade facility, at selected phases of passing wakes. The wakes are created by moving cylindrical bars across the inlet of the test section. V...
Investigation of effect of mass distribution on wing flutter by fluid-structure interaction analysis
Celen, Furkan; Darendeliler, Haluk; Oktay, Erdal; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8)
In this study, a closely coupled fluid-structure interaction analysis is carried out in order to investigate the effect of mass distribution on wing flutter. A commercial software is used to carry out and couple the structural and computational fluid dynamics analyses. The validation of the analysis procedure is realized by simulating the AGARD 445.6 wing flutter experiment and comparing the simulation results with the experimental ones. The simulation results agreed well with the experimental results. The ...
