ABE Condensation over Monometallic Catalysts: Catalyst Characterization and Kinetics
GOULAS, Konstantinos A.; Günbaş, Emrullah Görkem; DİETRİCH, Paul J.; SREEKUMAR, Sanil; GRİPPO, Adam; CHEN, Justin P.; GOKHALE, Amit A.; TOSTE, F. Dean (2017-02-01)
Herein, we present work on the catalyst development and the kinetics of acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) condensation. After examining multiple combinations of metal and basic catalysts reported in the literature, Cu supported on calcined hydrotalcites (HT) was found to be the optimal catalyst for the ABE condensation. This catalyst gave a six-fold increase in reaction rates over previously reported catalysts. Kinetic analysis of the reaction over CuHT and HT revealed that the rate-determining step is the C-H ...

LP relaxation-based solution algorithms for the multi-mode project scheduling with a non-renewable resource
Azizoğlu, Meral; Pamir, Selin Kirbiyik (2015-01-01)
In this study, we consider a multi-mode resource allocation problem with a single non-renewable resource. We assume the resource is released at defined time points and at defined quantities. We also assume that the activity costs are charged once they are completed. Our aim is to minimise the project completion time. We formulate the problem as a pure integer programming model and show that it is strongly NP-hard. We find lower bounds by pure and mixed integer linear programming relaxations of the model and...
IND-CCA secure encryption based on a Zheng-Seberry scheme
AK, MURAT; Hanoymak, Turgut; SELÇUK, ALİ AYDIN (Elsevier BV, 2014-03-15)
In 1993, Zheng and Seberry proposed three methods for strengthening public key cryptosystems. These methods aimed to obtain schemes that are secure against adaptively chosen ciphertext attacks. One method was improving security by using digital signatures. Zheng and Seberry gave an example scheme that employs this method. However, they were not able to prove 1ND-CCA security of their cryptosystem. In this paper, we modify this cryptosystem by employing a Schnorr signature scheme and prove this new scheme to...
