Bulk TiO2-P2O5 glasses containing various amounts of TiO2 were successfully prepared by the sol-gel process followed by calcination at various temperatures. Influence of processing parameters on the formation of homogeneous and transparent glasses were investigated. Effect of calcination temperature on the crystal phases developed, their size, morphology, and surface area were investigated through XRD, DTA-TG, SEM, and BET analyses. Results revealed that by heat-treating the sol-gel derived gels, TiO2-P2O5 glasses could be successfully produced. It has been realized that photocatalytic activity of the glass containing 90 mol% TiO2 and calcined at 600 ºC for 2 h was comparable with that of P25 powder.

TiO2-P2O5 (TP) gels containing large amounts of TiO2 were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process. Influence of processing parameters such as pH, Ti precursor type, amount, H2O/Ti ratio, solvent type, concentration on the formation of homogeneous gels were investigated. Prepared gels were subjected to regulated heat-treatments at various temperatures, durations, and heating rates to obtain monolithic TP glasses. Binary glasses having compositions of xTiO2 . (1-x)P2O5 (x= 70, 80, 90, 95 mol %) were p...
Preparation and Photocatalytic Activity of Solar Light Sensitive g-C3N4/TiO2 Heterojunction Nanocomposites
Gündoğmuş, Pelin; Park, Jongee; Öztürk, Abdullah (2021-06-10)
The solar light sensitive g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction nanocomposites were prepared in one step hydrothermal process by growing TiO2 nanoparticles on the surfaces of g-C3N4 particles. The g-C3N4 content of the composites varied from 20 to 90 wt%. The composite containing 80 wt% g-C3N4 was additionally subjected to a regulated heat treatment at different temperatures in the range from 350 to 500 oC for 1 h to improve the photocatalytic activity. XRD, FESEM, and DRS characterization techniques were app...
Influence of TiO2 Content on the Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2 B2O3 Glasses Prepared by the Sol gel Process
Akkuş, Sıtkı Can; Kalem, Volkan; Park, Jongee; Öztürk, Abdullah (2016-12-01)
A series of binary (1-x)TiO2 xB2O3 glasses with TiO2 content up to 80 mol% were prepared by the sol-gel technique using titanium tetraisopropoxide (C12H28O4Ti) and boric acid (H3BO3) precursors. Effects of initial precursor amount, and calcination temperature and time on the formation and photocatalytic properties of the glasses were investigated. The optimum amount of TiO2 was researched to get a glass possessing self-cleaning ability. The photocatalytic performance of the glasses was evaluated by the deco...
Production and characterization of layer by layer sputtered single-phase AgInSe2 thin film by thermal selenization
KALELİ, Murat; ÇOLAKOĞLU, TAHİR; Parlak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2013-12-01)
In this study highly stoichiometric and monophase AgInSe2 thin films were prepared by selenization of Ag-InSe precursors and the effect of the annealing temperature on the structural, electrical and optical properties have been investigated. The Se incorporation during selenization process as a function of temperature and the compositions of the samples were determined by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX). As prepared and selenized films were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning elect...
Preparation of high performance acrylonitrile copolymers
Aran, Bengi; Bengi, Aran; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2009)
Acrylonitrile based engineering random copolymers were prepared via one step emulsion polymerization using ammonium persulfate (initiator), 1-dodecanthiol (chain transfer agent) and DOWFAX 8390 (surfactant) in the presence of water at approximately 65 0C. Three copolymer compositions were studied for novel polyacrylonitrile, (PAN)-polyhydroxyethyl acrylate (PHEA), PAN-polybutyl acrylate (PBA), novel PAN-polyt-butyl acrylate (PtBA), PAN-polyethyl acrylate (PEA) and PAN-polymethyl acrylate (PMA) with acrylate...
