Inclusive and exclusive uses of we in four American textbooks for multicultural teacher education
Uzum, Baburhan; Yazan, Bedrettin; Selvi, Ali Fuad (2018-09-01)
This study analyses four American multicultural teacher education textbooks for instances of inclusive and exclusive representations through the use of first person plural pronouns (i.e. we, us, our, ours). Positioning theory is used as a theoretical framework to examine the textbook authors' uses of first person plural pronouns and to understand how these pronouns perform reflexive and interactive positioning and fluidly (re)negotiate and (re)delineate the borders between self' and other.' The findings sug...
Inclusive Search for a Highly Boosted Higgs Boson Decaying to a Bottom Quark-Antiquark Pair
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2018-02-01)
An inclusive search for the standard model Higgs boson (H) produced with large transverse momentum (p(T)) and decaying to a bottom quark-antiquark pair (b (b) over bar) is performed using a data set of pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). A highly Lorentz-boosted Higgs boson decaying to b (b) over bar is reconstructed as a single, large radius jet and is identified using jet substructure and ded...
NEGOTIATED BOUNDARIES: IDENTITY AND TRANSNATIONAL ATTACHMENTS AMONG THE TURKS OF BULGARIA
Kaytan, Özge; ZIRH, BESİM CAN; Department of Sociology (2021-10)
This thesis analyzes negotiated identity strategies of the Turks of Bulgaria in the two different national settings. The existence of the Turks of Bulgaria has been a problem since Bulgaria won independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1878. Although discriminatory attitudes towards Turks continued throughout the history, the state policy of the assimilation of the Turkish minority peaked in 1980s. The assimilation policy resulted in the migration of Turks in 1989 with high numbers, which was described as a m...
Inclusive and differential measurements of the t(t)over-bar charge asymmetry in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2016-06-01)
The t (t) over bar charge asymmetry is measured in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The data, collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb(-1). Selected events contain an electron or a muon and four or more jets, where at least one jet is identified as originating from b-quark hadronization. The inclusive charge asymmetry is found to be 0.0010 +/- 0.0068 (stat)+/- 0.0037 (syst). In addition, differential charge asymmetries as a ...
Inclusive and differential measurements of the t(t)over-bar charge asymmetry in proton-proton collisions root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2012-10-01)
The t (t) over bar charge asymmetry is measured in events containing a charged lepton (electron or muon) and at least four jets, one of which is identified as originating from b-quark hadronization. The analyzed dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb(-1) collected with the CMS detector at the LHC. An inclusive and three differential measurements of the t (t) over bar charge asymmetry as a function of rapidity, transverse momentum, and invariant mass of the t (t) over bar system are presen...
