Extension of spatiotemporal chaos in glow discharge-semiconductor systems
Akhmet, Marat; Rafatov, İsmail (2014-12-01)
Generation of chaos in response systems is discovered numerically through specially designed unidirectional coupling of two glow discharge-semiconductor systems. By utilizing the auxiliary system approach, [H. D. I. Abarbanel, N. F. Rulkov, and M. M. Sushchik, Phys. Rev. E 53, 4528-4535 (1996)] it is verified that the phenomenon is not a chaos synchronization. Simulations demonstrate various aspects of the chaos appearance in both drive and response systems. Chaotic control is through the external circuit e...
Application of density-functional theory to atomic resonances
Erkoç, Şakir; Jansen, HJF (1999-03-01)
Density-functional theory in the local-spin-density approximation has been applied to calculate the energy positions of law-lying resonance (autoionization) states of neutral atoms and positive ions. This method is very convenient fur a quick, approximate prediction of excitation energies in collision experiments. [S1050-2947(99)05401-3]
Application of nonlinear unit root tests and threshold autoregressive models
Uysal, Ela; Yıldırım Kasap, Dilem; Department of Economics (2012)
Popularity of nonlinear threshold models and unit root tests has increased after the recent empirical studies concerning the effects of business cycles on macroeconomic data. These studies have shown that an economic variable may react differently in response to downturns and recoveries in a business cycle. Inspiring from empirical results, this thesis investigates dynamics of Turkish key macroeconomic data, namely capacity utilization rate, growth of import and export volume indices, growth of gross domest...
Application of impulsive deterministic simulation of biochemical networks via simulation tools
Purutçuoğlu Gazi, Vilda (2017-01-01)
In order to understand the possible behaviour of biochemical networks, deterministic and stochastic simulation methods have been developed. However in some cases, these methods should be broaden. For oxii.rupie, if the biochemical system is subjected to the unexpected effects causing abrupt changes in the network, the ordinary simulation algorithms cannot capture these impulsive expressions. In 1.1) is study, we select, 1.1 ic simulations lools. specifically, CO PA ST and Systems Biology Toolbox for MATLAR ...
Application of the Malliavin Calculus for Computation of Greeks in Black-Sholes and Stochastic Volatility Models
Yılmaz, Bilgi; İnkaya, Bülent Alper; Yolcu Okur, Yeliz (null; 2013-07-04)
The Greeks of options are problematic to calculate both numerically and analytically when the structure of the payoff function of option is complex. This problem can be solved by employing Malliavin calculus. In this study, we summarize the fundamentals of Malliavin Calculus which are useful for computing the sensitivities of options. Then, we use these fundamentals to derive explicit formulas for the Greeks of European and Asian options for the Black-Scholes model and Heston stochastic volatility model. Fu...
