Range estimation of construction costs using neural networks with bootstrap prediction intervals
Sönmez, Rifat (2011-08-01)
Modeling of construction costs is a challenging task, as it requires representation of complex relations between factors and project costs with sparse and noisy data. In this paper, neural networks with bootstrap prediction intervals are presented for range estimation of construction costs. In the integrated approach, neural networks are used for modeling the mapping function between the factors and costs, and bootstrap method is used to quantify the level of variability included in the estimated costs. The...
Range/doppler ambiguity resolution for medium prf radars
Çuhadaroğlu, Burak; Canatan, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
Range and Doppler measurement of targets for medium PRF radars is handicapped by folding and blind regions. This requires use of multiple PRFs and a resolver algorithm. The aim of the thesis is to develop various algorithms for the task and estimate their performance. Four different range and Doppler resolver algorithms and a test software is developed by using Matlab ® GUI and their performances due to the selected radar parameters in a multi- target environment are examined.
Range parameterized bearings only tracking using particle filter
Arslan, Ali Erkin; Demirekler, Mübeccel; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
In this study, accurate target tracking for bearings-only tracking problem is investigated. A new tracking filter for this nonlinear problem is designed where both range parameterization and Rao-Blackwellized (marginalized) particle filtering techniques are used in a Gaussian mixture formulation to track both constant velocity and maneuvering targets. The idea of using target turn rate in the state equation in such a way that marginalization is possible is elaborated. Addition to nonlinear nature, unobserva...
Performance assessment of a bentonite-sand mixture for nuclear waste isolation at the potential Akkuyu Nuclear Waste Disposal Site, southern Turkey
Akgün, Haluk; Kockar, Mustafa Kerem (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2015-05-01)
This study assesses the geotechnical performance of a compacted bentonite-sand mixture with a bentonite content ranging from 15 to 30 % by weight to be used as a material component in a waste sealing system. Geotechnical laboratory tests such as compaction, falling head permeability, swelling, unconfined compression and shear strength tests were conducted to select an optimum mixture which eventually led to a recommendation to select an optimum bentonite-sand mixture possessing a bentonite content of 30 % f...
Batch adsorber rate analysis of Methylene Blue on Amberlite and clinoptilolite
Yener, Julide; Kopac, Turkan; Dogu, Gulsen; Doğu, Timur (2006-01-01)
Adsorption of Methylene Blue on clinoptilolite and on Amberlite XAD-4 was investigated in a temperature range of 20-50 degrees C, in a batch adsorber. Results of this work showed that clinoptilolite was a better sorbent than Amberlite XAD-4 for the removal of Methylene Blue. Among the four adsorption rate models tested in the analysis of the adsorption rate data, a simple single parameter diffusion model (Model C) was shown as the best model to be used in practical applications. The diffusivity found from t...
