Dynamic characterization of double-relief profile modifications in planetary gear systems, (27 - 29 Ağustos 2018)

2018-08-27
Being similar to parallel-axis gear systems, application of proper profile modifications inplanetary gearing is an effective way of reducing the adverse dynamic effects, such asexcessive noise and reduced fatigue life due to increased dynamic loading. In this study,double-relief profile modification design, proposed for high contact ratio (HCR) spurgears, are investigated in terms of its dynamic effects in planetary gear trains (PGTs). Forthis purpose, a mathematical model, in which the dynamic excitation due to gear errors, tooth profile modifications and tooth stiffness variation is modeled using loaded statictransmission error (LSTE), is employed. Comparisons with the dynamic responsesobtained using conventional profile relief designs are provided.NOMENCLATURE

Supplemental elastic stiffness to reduce isolator displacements for seismic-isolated bridges in near-fault zones
Dicleli, Murat (2007-05-01)
In this paper, the efficiency of providing supplemental elastic stiffness to seismic-isolated bridges (SIBs) for reducing the isolator displacements while keeping the substructure forces in reasonable ranges is investigated. Conventional supplemental elastic devices (SEDs) such as elastomeric bearings placed in parallel with seismic isolators between the superstructure and substructures are used for this purpose. A parametric study, involving more than 400 nonlinear time history (NLTH) analyses of realistic...

Effect of microstructural modification on damage tolerance of 34CrMo4 shaft steel
Ozcan, Burak; Gurer, Goksu; Gür, Cemil Hakan (Wiley, 2020-06-01)
Overall damage tolerances of the heat-treated 34CrMo4 steels having ferritic-pearlitic, bainitic, and tempered-martensitic microstructures were evaluated based on their threshold stress intensity factor prior to small crack propagation, fatigue strength, and fracture toughness under static loading. Kitagawa-Takahashi diagrams were constructed to determine the limiting size of small crack propagation. The micromechanical effects of carbide morphology and phase distribution on quasi-static and dynamic mechani...
Effects of 8-week core stability training on junior male soccer players’ stattic balance performance
Yıldızer, Günay; Kirazcı, Saadettin; Korkusuz, Feza; Department of Physical Education and Sports (2014)
The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of Core Stability Training on static balance performance. Studies on soccer focused on elites comparing to young. Regarding the locomotion, balance is a base for movement patterns. Soccer consist of different movements, mostly they are different types of running, kicking and bending. Core Stability training methods have been used for improving major muscles which have great role on maintaining balance. 15 of the soccer players were in the intervention ...
The Effect of structural layout on the supersonic flutter characteristics of a fighter wing
Okumuş, Başak; Kayran, Altan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2018)
The increase in flexibility of modern aircraft structures requires the aeroelastic effects be taken into consideration from the very beginning of the design phase in order to escape expensive iterations during the subsequent design phases and lower the required weight penalties resulting from compliance to certain aeroelastic requirements. Therefore, to be able to predict the supersonic flutter velocity is important in the preliminary design phase of fighter aircraft to increase design efficiency. In the fi...
