Physicochemical and Antimicrobial Properties of Oleoresin Capsicum Nanoemulsions Formulated with Lecithin and Sucrose Monopalmitate
Akbas, Elif; Söyler, Ulviye Betül; Öztop, Halil Mecit (2019-05-01)
Oleoresin capsicum (OC) is an extract of chili pepper containing the active agent capsaicin. In this study, OC-loaded nanoemulsions were prepared by microfluidization and stabilized with sucrose monopalmitate (SMP) and lecithin. The difference in size and distribution of droplets determined the nanoemulsion behavior mainly due to the interaction of emulsifiers between oil and aqueous phase. The hydrophilic interaction between SMP and aqueous phase and the hydrophobic interaction between lecithin and oil pha...

Phyto-mediated photocatalysis: a critical review of in-depth base to reactive radical generation for erythromycin degradation
Ashraf, Aniqa; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Arif, Muhammad; Ahmed, Rafay; Rashid, Audil; Riaz, Luqman; Rashid, Muhammad Saqib (2022-05-01)
© 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.Erythromycin (ERY), designated as a risk-prioritized macrolide antibiotic on the 2015 European Union watch list, is the third most commonly used antibiotic, most likely due to its ability to inhibit the protein. ERY has revealed record-high aquatic concentrations threatening the entire ecosystem and hence demands priority remedial measures. The inefficiency of various conventional ERY degradation methodol...
Physico-Chemical Changes of Composite Whey Protein Hydrogels in Simulated Gastric Fluid Conditions
Özel, Barış; GRUNIN, Leonid; Öztop, Halil Mecit (2018-09-12)
Polysaccharide blended whey protein isolate (WPI) hydrogels were developed for the delivery of black carrot (Daucus carota) concentrate as bioactive agent in simulated gastric fluid (SGF). Pectin (PC), gum tragacanth (GT), and xanthan gum (XG) were blended as additional polymers to modulate the release characteristics of the WPI hydrogels. Experiments showed that sole whey protein (C), XG, and GT blended hydrogels possessed restricted release profiles 67%, 61%, and 67%, respectively, whereas PC samples atta...
Phytoplankton Growth Rate and Zooplankton Grazing in the Western Part of the Black Sea in the Autumn Period
Stel'makh, L. V.; Babich, II; Tuğrul, Süleyman; Moncheva, S; Stefanova, K (Pleiades Publishing Ltd, 2009-02-01)
The results of the studies within the framework of the international expedition onboard R/V Vladimir Parshin in September - October 2005 are presented. Intensive development of Bacillariophyceae and Dynophyceae was recorded in the coastal waters of Bulgaria, Turkey, and in the Danube River Delta during the period of the investigations. The increase in the algae population was accompanied by rising of the Chlorophyll a concentration up to 2.0-5.5 mg m(-3). In the deep water region, it did not exceed 0.54 mg ...
