Automation and verification of Ankara wind tunnel
Katırcı, Argün; Alemdaroğlu, Hüseyin Nafiz; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2006)
All the operational and measurement systems of Ankara Wind Tunnel was modified to operate automatically under the control of a central computer system programmed using the Lab View programming language. A cruciform air-to-air missile with triangular canard control and a trapezoidal wing model was tested by a 35mm diameter internal balance at Mach 0.2 and data was compared with the test data of the same model’s test that was performed at NASA Langley Research Center.

AUTOMATION OF SPILLWAY GATE OPERATIONS BASED ON RESERVOIR WATER LEVEL MONITORING
Khoram, Mohammad Khalid; Aydin, Ismail; Department of Civil Engineering (2022-9-02)
Spillways are the safety structures of dams against floods. Various types of spillways having different hydraulic characteristics can be considered with variable geometric dimensions. On the other hand, hydrologic reservoir routing is an important tool in the optimization of dam reservoir operations for the purpose of water supply for various needs and electricity production in hydropower plants. Some spillways have gates to control and regulate the flow and to store an optimal amount of water. Other spillw...
Automated calibration of water distribution networks
Apaydın, Öncü; Merzi, Nuri; Department of Civil Engineering (2013)
Water distribution network models are widely used for various purposes such as long-range planning, design, operation and water quality management. Before these models are used for a specific study, they should be calibrated by adjusting model parameters such as pipe roughness values and nodal demands so that models can yield compatible results with site observations (basically, pressure readings). Many methods have been developed to calibrate water distribution networks. In this study, Darwin Calibrator, a...
