A study of precoding schemes for ofdm systems
Çakar, F. Selcen; Candan, Çağatay; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
We examine the effect of precoding on OFDM systems. The precoding operation, which is also known as constellation rotation, leads to a gain in diversity order for fading channels. In this thesis, we examine the effect of precoding for different receivers such as Maximum Likelihood (ML), Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE), and Zero Forcing (ZF) receivers. The diversity gain due to precoding comes at no cost of bandwidth expansion or power increase. Therefore it is an attractive and practical alternative. We a...
A survey on piecewise-linear models of regulatory dynamical systems
Öktem, Hüseyin Avni (Elsevier BV, 2005-11-01)
Recent developments in understanding the various regulatory systems, especially the developments in biology and genomics, stimulated an interest in modelling such systems. Hybrid systems, originally developed for process control applications, provide advances in modelling such systems. A particular class of hybrid systems which are relatively simpler to analyze mathematically but still capable of demonstrating the essential features of many non-linear dynamical systems is piecewise-linear systems. Implement...
A Survey on Electric Vehicle Powertrain Systems
Karamuk, Mustafa (2011-09-10)
This study covers various aspects of powertrain systems for battery electric vehicles with main focus on front axes driven vehicles. A brief comparison of conventional and electrical powertrain regarding the driveability issues is presented in order to indicate the performance benefits of electrical machines into the vehicle applications. System level differences between internal combustion engine and electrical machine are given. As the most commonly used electrical machine types, a comparison of induction...
A Study of nickel diffusion coating on stainless steel substrates and its effect on stress corrosion cracking

A comparative investigation of heat transfer capacity limits of heat pipes
Küçük, Sinan; Tarı, İlker; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2007)
Heat pipe is a passive two phase device capable of transferring large rates of heat with a minimal temperature drop. It is a sealed tube with a wick structure lined in it and with a working fluid inside the tube. It consists of three parts: an evaporator, a condenser and an adiabatic section. The heat pipes are widely used in electronics cooling and spacecraft applications. Although they can transfer large rate of heat in a short range, they have operating limits, namely: the capillary limit, the viscous li...
