Effect of seeding on the properties of mfi type zeolite membranes
Dinçer, Eser; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
The effect of seeding on the properties of alumina supported MFI membranes was investigated in this study. Membranes were synthesized from clear solutions with a molar batch composition of TPAOH:9.80SiO2:0.025NaOH:0.019Al2O3: 602.27H2O:39.16C2H5OH on bare and seeded alumina supports at 130oC in autoclaves. The amount of seed on the support surface was changed between 0.6 mg/cm2 and 6.9 mg/cm2 by vacuum seeding method, which provided uniform and closely packed seed layers. Membranes were characterized by XRD...

Effect of biogenic substrate concentration on chlorophenol degradation kinetics
ŞAHİNKAYA, Erkan; Dilek, Filiz Bengü (Wiley, 2006-09-01)
The effects of biogenic substrate (peptone) concentration on reactor performance, yield coefficient (Y) and degradation kinetics were evaluated in an instantaneously fed sequencing batch reactor (SBR) receiving a mixture of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) and 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP). High chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiencies (90-95%) and complete removal of chlorophenols were observed even in the absence of peptone (i.e. chlorophenols served as sole carbon and energy sources). During the degradation...

The effects of double release of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) and growth factor 1 (TGF1) from nanoparticles on the growth of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and their differentiation into cartilage cells were studied on PLGA scaffolds. The release was achieved by using nanoparticles of poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) carrying IGF-I and TGF1, respectively. On tissue culture polystyrene (TCPS), TGF-1 released from PNIPAM nanoparticles was found to ...
