Morphology effect on electrochemical properties of doped (W and Mo) 622NMC, 111NMC, and 226NMC cathode materials
Pişkin, B.; Uygur, Cansu Savaş; Aydınol, Mehmet Kadri (Elsevier BV, 2020-03-01)
An investigation was carried out on layered Li(NixMnyCo1-x-y)O-2 (NMC) cathode active materials for Li-ion batteries to determine the effect of morphology on their electrochemical performances. The NMC active materials were doped with Mo or W (2 wt%) in the study. Doped NMC cathodes with a ratio of 111, 622 and 226 (NiMnCo) were synthesized by spray pyrolysis which yielded aggregates were submicron size. A systematic investigation was performed, and two distinct morphology types were identified in active ma...
Geometry-based modeling of dispersion in core-shell particle media
Hatipoğlu, Emre; Koku, Harun; Department of Chemical Engineering (2017)
Dispersion is an important physical phenomenon that heavily influences performances of systems such as chromatographic separation processes. Mathematical modeling of this phenomenon is therefore widely investigated. This thesis study investigates dispersion of random-walking particles, or tracers, around core-shell particles, a type of recently commercialized spherical and porous stationary phase used in liquid chromatography that has a solid impermeable core that limits diffusion near the center and a poro...
Shape Effects on the Structure and Response of the Polymeric Particles Synthesized from Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Templates
Avşar, Deniz Işınsu; Büküşoğlu, Emre (2021-01-01)
: Liquid crystals (LCs) have been shown to provide molecular templates for the synthesis of polymeric particles. Past studies have revealed the elastic effects to dominate internal configuration of the LC molecular templates for the sizes below 10 µm. Sacrificial microwells were used in this study to study the effect of shapes of the particles synthesized from the cholesteric liquid crystals on their structure and response. Specifically, mixtures of diacrylate based reactive (RM257) and nonreactive mesogens...
Structure-preserving Reduced Order Modeling of non-traditional Shallow Water Equation
Uzunca, Murat; Karasözen, Bülent; Yıldız, Süleyman (Springer, London/Berlin , 2021-04-01)
An energy- preserving reduced -order model (ROM) is developed for the non-traditional shallow water equation (NTSWE) with full Coriolis force. The NTSWE in the noncanonical Hamiltonian/Poisson form is discretized in space by finite differences. The resulting system of ordinary differential equations is integrated in time by the energy preserving average vector field (AVF) method. The Poisson structure of the discretized NTSWE exhibits a skew-symmetric matrix depending on the state variables. An energy- pres...
Morphology dependent interaction between Co(II)-tetraphenylporphyrin and the MgO(100) surface
Ninova, Silviya; Malcıoğlu, Osman Barış; Auburger, Philipp; Franke, Matthias; Lytken, Ole; Steinrueck, Hans-Peter; Bockstedte, Michel (2021-01-01)
Porphyrins are key elements in organic-inorganic hybrid systems for a wide range of applications. Understanding their interaction with the substrate gives a handle on structural and electronic device properties. Here we investigate a single transition-metal porphyrin, namely Co(II)-tetraphenylporphyrin (CoTPP), on the MgO(100) surface and the effect of multilayer film formation within hybrid density-functional theory and many-body perturbation theory. We focus on the relevant adsorption sites, simulate thei...
