Constraining Gluon Distributions in Nuclei Using Dijets in Proton-Proton and Proton-Lead Collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2018-08-01)
The pseudorapidity distributions of dijets as functions of their average transverse momentum (p(T)(ave)) are measured in proton-lead (pPb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions. The data samples were collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV. A significant modification of the pPb spectra with respect to the pp spectra is observed in all p(T)(ave) intervals investigated. The ratios of the pPb and pp distributions are compared to next-to-leading order ...
Constraining extra neutral gauge bosons with atomic parity violation measurements
Diener, Ross; Godfrey, Stephen; Turan, İsmail (2012-12-11)
The discovery of a new neutral gauge boson Z' could provide the first concrete evidence of physics beyond the standard model. We explore how future parity violation experiments, especially atomic parity violation experiments, can be used to constrain Z' bosons. We use the recent measurement of the Cs-133 nuclear weak charge to estimate lower bounds on the mass of Z' bosons for a number of representative models and to put constraints on the couplings of a newly discovered Z' boson. We also consider how these...
Conjugate Analysis of Silica-Phenolic Charring Ablation Coupled with Interior Ballistics
Alanyalioglu, Cetin Ozan; Özyörük, Yusuf (2021-07-01)
Because of its excellent insulation capability, the usage of a silica-phenolic charring ablator as a nozzle liner is a common practice in the solid rocket motor industry. During the design of a solid rocket motor employing a silica-phenolic nozzle liner, it is desired to conduct an accurate analysis yielding in-depth thermal response and recession characteristics. As the interior ballistics and nozzle recession rate mutually interact, the best practice is to perform a coupled solution to both. Commonly used...
CONJUGATE HEAT TRANSFER ANALYSIS OF INTERNALLY COOLED TURBINE BLADE
Gorgulu, Ilhan; Gumusel, Baris; Akmandor, I. Sinan (2012-06-15)
There are different characters of air flow in a conventional gas turbine blade cooling channel. These flow characters; including high streamline curvature caused from 180 degree bends, sequential flow separations caused from rib turbulators and pin-fin structures are analyzed separately with available commercial software for different turbulence models and validated against reliable experimental data from open literature. Also coupled conjugate heat transfer analyses on NASA C3X vane, which has only radial ...
