Acoustical analysis and design of horn type loudspeakers
Ünal, Ayhun; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2006)
Computer aided auto-construction of various types of folded horns and acoustic analysis of coupled horn and driver systems are presented in this thesis. A new procedure is developed for auto construction of folded horn shapes. Linear graph modeling technique is employed for specification of horn driver output in terms of diaphragm velocity or throat pressure. In the final phase of the design procedure, acoustic analysis of folded horns is carried by means of finite element analysis. A commercial software pa...
Acoustical analysis of exhaust mufflers for earth-moving machinery
Olğar, Tarık; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2009)
This study concerns with acoustical analysis of exhaust mufflers for earth-moving machinery. The study arises from the fact that there is a need for further noise reduction emitted by earth-moving machinery produced by Hidromek Inc. in order to be on the safe side of the limits stated in European Noise Directive 2000/14/EC. The acoustical performance of the muffler is investigated both experimental and numerical means. A three-dimensional finite element method is performed to calculate the transmission loss...

Acoustically induced stress analysis of center fuselage skin panels of a basic training aircraft using statistical energy analysis
Kurtoğlu, İlker; Çalışkan, Mehmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2009)
Two sample statistical energy analysis (SEA) models are generated for a section of the fuselage panel of an aircraft, namely the uniform panel model which includes the frames and stringers, and the ribbed panel model in which the frames and stringers are smeared into the skin. Turbulent boundary layer (TBL) excitation is used as the primary acoustic excitation source. Stress levels are estimated from the average velocity data of the panels. The stress results are found comply with those obtained by the AGAR...
Acoustical analysis of multipurpose hall NY computer simulation method: METU Northern Cyprus Campus Auditorium (NCCA) as a case study
Yılmaz, Tansu; Sorguç, Arzu; Department of Building Science in Architecture (2005)
In this study, impulse response of a multipurpose hall, namely METU Northern Cyprus Campus Auditorium (NCCA) is analyzed and the acoustical quality of the auditorium is evaluated. Suggestions to increase the acoustical satisfaction has been made and to overcome the probability of bass-rise caused by the noise of HVAC systems, a proposal has been made to control low frequency sounds by introducing the volume resonators for the specified frequency. For the study, Odeon, which is used effectively in computer b...
