Physical and chemical properties of selected Turkish lignites and their pyrolysis and gasification rates determined by thermogravimetric analysis
Cakal, Gaye O.; Yücel, Hayrettin; Guruz, A. Guniz (2007-08-01)
Pyrolysis and CO(2)-gasification behavior of lignites representing four different deposits in Turkey were investigated by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) in the temperature range from 750 degrees C to 1000 degrees C. The rates of pyrolysis and CO(2)-gasification were evaluated from the corresponding TGA profiles. As expected, maximum pyrolysis rates for each coal were shown to be constant with respect to the final carbonization temperature. Lignites used in this study are from the tertiary period, chosen f...
Physical and chemical characteristics of particulate matter (pm1) emitted from combustion of a bituminous coal in air and oxy-fuel environments
Kazanç Özerinç, Feyza (null; 2013-05-22)
This work examined the physical and chemical characteristics of submicron particulate emissions (PM1) from pulverized bituminous coal burning under either conventional air or oxyfuel conditions. Oxy-fuel combustion is a process that takes place in O2/CO2 environments, which are achieved by removing nitrogen from the intake gases and recirculating large amounts of flue gases to the boiler; this is done to moderate the high temperatures caused by the elevated oxygen partial pressure therein. In this study, co...
Physical, antimicrobial and antibiofilm properties of Zataria multiflora Boiss essential oil nanoemulsion
Shahabi, Nasim; Tajik, Hossein; Moradi, Mehran; Forough, Mehrdad; Ezati, Parya (2017-07-01)
It was evaluated physical, antibacterial and antibiofilm properties of Zataria multiflora Boiss essential oil (ZEO) and its nanoemulsion. Long-term stability of nanoemulsion prepared by emulsion phase inversion was satisfying based on low narrow size distribution (polydispersity index 0.2) and low droplet size (200nm) over 21 days of storage. Nanoemulsion showed lower minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) on Listeria monocytogenes (2500 mu gmL(-1)) than Salmonella Typhimurium (5000 mu gmL(-1)). Killing kin...
Physical and optical properties of DCJTB dye for OLED display applications: Experimental and theoretical investigation
KURBAN, MUSTAFA; GÜNDÜZ, BAYRAM (2017-06-05)
In this study, 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-tert-butyl-6-(1,1,7,7-tetramethyljulolidin-4-yl-vinyl)-4H-pyran (DCJTB) was achieved using the experimental and theoretical studies. The electronic, optical and spectroscopic properties of DCJTB molecule were first investigated by performing experimental both solution and thin film techniques and then theoretical calculations. Theoretical results showed that one intense.electronic transition is 505.26 nm a quite reasonable and agreement with the measured experimental da...
Physical and chemical characterization of sesame seed protein
Köysüren, Begüm; Öztop, Halil Mecit; Bekir Gökçen , Mazı; Department of Food Engineering (2020-9)
Plant-based food proteins have become very popular and valuable due to increase trend of following a vegan diet and preferring to consume less meat in terms of sustainability reasons. The most popular plant based proteins are soya bean, quinoa, lentil, peanut and chia seed proteins. Sesame seed also has a potential to be an alternative protein source. However, it is a known fact that there is no extended study about sesame seed proteins in the literature although sesame seed contains significant amoun...
