Low-cost microbolometer infrared detectors utilizing CMOS resistive layers
Öztürk, Hande; Akın, Tayfun; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2017)
This thesis presents the efforts to develop low-cost microbolometer type uncooled infrared detector architectures that utilize standard CMOS layers and components. Various resistance structures of different CMOS technologies are investigated and possible resistors are determined as the active material. In order to figure out potential microbolometer structure, all possible layers in the CMOS technologies are analyzed in terms of mechanical and thermal parameters. Mathematical modeling and computer simulatio...
Column level two-step multi-slope analog to digital converter for CMOS image sensors
Tunca, Can; Koçer, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2017)
In the past few years, CMOS image sensors has performed an enormous growth in technology and their market is broadened with the integration cameras on the cell phones. The advancement trend continues as the pixel sizes getting smaller and the array formats getting larger. With pixels decreasing in size and growing in numbers, faster row read-out speed requirements have emerged to keep frame rates constant. Column parallel ADC architectures meet these demands as they utilize large numbers of parallel convers...
Search for a standart model Higgs Boson in CMS via vector boson fusion in the H-WW-lvlv channel and optimization of energy reconstruction in CMS using test beam 2006 data
Yazgan, Efe; Zeyrek, Mehmet Tevfik; Department of Physics (2007)
One of the goals of the LHC is to test the existence of the Higgs Boson. This thesis presents a study of the potential to discover the Standard Model Higgs boson in the vector boson fusion (VBF) channel for the Higgs mass range 120-200 GeV/c2. The decay of Higgs bosons into WW* final state with both W-bosons decaying leptonically is considered. The main backgrounds are tt_+j and W+W-jj. This study, based on a full simulation of the CMS detector at the LHC, shows that a 5(Sigma) discovery can be done with an...
Study of misalignment effects in the CMS forward hadron calorimeter
Kılınç, Cemali; Güler, Ali Murat; Department of Physics (2016)
The Compact Muon Selonoid (CMS) is a general purpose detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It is designed to investigate a wide range of physics, including the search for the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model. The CMS detector consists of various sub-detector systems, measuring energy, momentum, charge and trajectory of the particles produced by the proton-proton collision in the detector. The Forward Hadron Calorimeter (HF), a sub-system of Hadron Calorimeter (HCAL), identi es and me...
Measurement of the cross section ratio σ(χc₂)/σ(χc₁) for prompt χc production with CMS experiment
Akin, Ilina Vasileva; Zeyrek, Mehmet Tevfik; Department of Physics (2012)
The prompt production of χc quarkonia is studied in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV, using data collected by CMS in 2011 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb −1. The χc mesons are reconstructed through their radiative decays to J/ψ and photon with J/ψ → μ+μ− . The photons are reconstructed through their conversion in electron-positron pairs in the tracking detector which gives a mass resolution sufficient for resolving these states. The ratio of the prompt production ₁cross sections for the...
