Structural characterization of iron-based bulk metallic glass alloys produced by centrifugal casting
PEHLIVANOGLU, MK; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; BOR, A Sakir (2003-05-01)
In this study bulk metallic glass alloys in the Fe-Zr-B-M (M=Al, Co, Cu, Mo, Ni, W) systemwere produced by using a centrifugal casting method. The thickness ofthe samples that could be produced with an almost completely amorphousstructure was found to be as high as similar to2 mm for alloy Fe60Co8Zr10Mo5W2B15. Alloying element additions or replacements have resulted in a considerable effect on glass-forming ability. Among others, Al and Cu were found to have the most deteriorative effects. The ternary alloy...
Structural interpretation of gabbroic rocks in Agacoren Granitoid, central Turkey: field observations and aeromagnetic data
Kadioglu, Yk; Ates, A; Güleç, Nilgün Türkan (1998-03-01)
Gabbroic rocks crop out commonly in different localities of the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex and are interpreted by many researchers as the remnants of a Neotethyan ophiolitic suite now observed as roof-pendants in the granitoids of the complex. In this study, the structural position of the gabbroic rocks within one of the granitoids of the Central Anatolian Crystalline Complex, namely the Agacoren Granitoid, is determined by geological and aeromagnetic data from the central part of the pluton. The...
Structural design of a lunar radio telescope using interactive CAD
Akgül, Ferhat; Johnson, S (American Society of Civil Engineers, 1992-01-01)
Some astronomers are considering the moon as an attractive location within the inner solar system for a variety of astronomical observatories, some of which could be operational early in the 21st century. This paper describes the computer‐aided structural design of a 122‐m diameter, fully steerable, parabolic radio telescope to be located on the moon. The loads acting on such a reflector differ substantially from those acting on a reflector that must operate in earth's environment. The moon has excellent ad...
