Comparative Life Cycle Assessment of Uranium Recovery from Brine
Altay, Melike Benan; Kalıpçıoğlu, Ceyda; Kurt, Zöhre (2022-06-01)
With the increase in world population and the associated increase in raw material, clean water and energy demands, seeking for innovative and sustainable methods to decrease human-made environmental footprint becomes a task of utmost importance to reduce emissions and waste generation. Uranium-based atomic energy generation has an enormous potential to efficiently supply energy demand at the cost of high environmental impact on water bodies. Therefore, estimating the environmental impacts of the uranium rec...
Comparative life cycle assessment of uranium recovery from brine

Comparative combustion kinetics for in situ combustion process
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Elsevier BV, 2001-03-22)
In this research, thermal characteristics and combustion kinetics of three crude oils (13-27 degrees API) were investigated using DuPont 9900 thermal analysis system (TG/DTG). A sample size of 10 mg. heating rate of 10 degreesC min(-1) were used in the temperature range of 20-700 degreesC under air atmosphere. Theoretically, combustion of fuel can be initiated whenever oxygen comes in contact with fuel. However, the temperature, composition of fuel and oxygen supply dictates the nature of this reaction. In ...
Comparative evaluation of InAs/GaSb superlattices for mid infrared detection: p-i-n versus residual doping
Korkmaz, Melih; Kaldirim, Melih; Arikan, Bulent; SERİNCAN, UĞUR; ASLAN, BÜLENT (IOP Publishing, 2015-08-01)
We report on the opto-electronic characterization of an InAs/GaSb superlattice (SL) midwave infrared p-i-n photodetector structure (pin-SL) in comparison with the same structure with no intentional doping (i-SL). Both structures were grown on an n-GaSb substrate using molecular beam epitaxy. The nominally undoped structure (i-SL) presented p-i-n like behavior and showed a photovoltaic mode photoresponse due to the residual doping and native defects in this material system. For similar to 77 K operation, 0.7...
Comparative study of commercial structural analysis programs in view of seismic assessment procedures in Turkish earthquake code 2007
Yıldırım, Suat; Akyüz, Uğurhan; Yakut, Ahmet; Department of Civil Engineering (2011)
In Turkey, most of the existing buildings have been designed according to Turkish Earthquake codes of 1975 and 1997. It is a well known fact that, poor material quality, poor design, poor control on site and inadequate workmanship makes existing buildings vulnerable to earthquake. In addition, change in function of buildings becomes another problem. These problems increase the importance of assessment of existing buildings. For this purpose, a new chapter has been added to the new code and assessment method...
