In vitro and in vivo evaluation of the effects of demineralized bone matrix or calcium sulfate addition to polycaprolactone-bioglass composites
ERDEMLİ, ÖZGE; Captug, O.; Bilgili, H.; ORHAN, DİCLEHAN; Tezcaner, Ayşen; Keskin, Dilek (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-01-01)
The objective of this study was to improve the efficacy of polycaprolactone/bioglass (PCL/BG) bone substitute using demineralized bone matrix (DBM) or calcium sulfate (CS) as a third component. Composite discs involving either DBM or CS were prepared by compression moulding. Bioactivity of discs was evaluated by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (ESCA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) following simulated body fluid incubation. The closest Calcium/Phosphate ratio to that of hydroxyl carbonate apatit...
In vitro and in vivo evaluation of doxycycline-chondroitin sulfate/PCLmicrospheres for intraarticular treatment of osteoarthritis
AYDIN, Ozlem; KORKUSUZ, FEZA; KORKUSUZ, PETEK; Tezcaner, Ayşen; BİLGİÇ, ELİF; Yaprakci, Volkan; Keskin, Dilek (2015-08-01)
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease, which has no complete treatment with medication yet. Intraarticular hyaluronan (HA) injection can decrease pain and modify the natural course of OA. This study was designed to provide long term delivery of an MMP (matrix-metalloproteinase) inhibitor agent-doxycycline, together with matrix regenerative agent-chondroitin sulfate for treating OA which progress with matrix degenerations. Doxycycline (D) and doxycycline-chondroitin sulfate (D-CS) loaded poly--...
In vitro cytotoxicity, corrosion and antibacterial efficiencies of Zn doped hydroxyapatite coated Ti based implant materials
Buyuksungur, Senem; YILGÖR HURİ, PINAR; Schmidt, Jürgen; Pana, Iulian; Dinu, Mihaela; Vitelaru, Catalin; Kiss, Adrian E.; Tamay, Dilara Goksu; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat; Vladescu, Alina; Nesrin Hasirci, Hasirci (2023-01-01)
Ti6Al4V alloy is successfully used as implant material in dental and orthopedic surgeries for years due to its much better compatibility, lower density, corrosion resistance, etc. compared to the other metals. Meantime, modification of the surface of these alloys is needed to enhance material-tissue interaction and osteointegration between the implant and the bone. In this study, Ti6Al4V alloy surfaces were modified by application of RF magnetron sputtering technique and coated with zinc (Zn) doped hydroxya...
In vitro bioactivity investigation of alkali treated Ti6Al7Nb alloy foams
Butev, Ezgi; ESEN, ZİYA; Bor, Sakir (2015-02-01)
Biocompatible Ti6Al7Nb alloy foams with 70% porosity manufactured by space holder method were activated via alkali treatment using 5 M NaOH solution at 60 degrees C. The interconnected pore structures enabled formation of homogenous sodium rich coating on the foam surfaces by allowing penetration of alkali solution throughout the pores which had average size of 200 mu m. The resulted coating layer having 500 nm thickness exhibited porous network morphology with 100 nm pore size. On the other hand, heat trea...
IN VITRO DEGRADATION AND BIOACTIVITY OF ANTIBACTERIAL CHROMIUM DOPED O-TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE BIOCERAMICS
Alshemary, Ammar Z.; Muhammed, Yasser; Salman, Nader A.; Hussain, Rafaqat; Motameni, Ali; Gürbüz, Rıza; Alkaabi, Mohammed Hliyil Hafiz; Abdolahi, Ahmad (2022-01-01)
This study successfully incorporated different chromium ions (Cr3+) fractions into beta-tricalcium phosphate (beta TCP) using the wet-precipitation process aided by microwave radiation. The microstructure analysis of the prepared materials was investigated using XRD and FESEM. The XRD results revealed that the characteristic peaks of Cr-beta TCP materials matched the standard phase of beta TCP crystals. The lattice parameters were decreased with increasing amounts of Cr3+ ions while the degree of crystallin...
