Determination of Nitrate and Nitrite by Ion-Selective Electrodes in Relation to Gypsum Formation on Some Travertine Buildings in Polluted Atmosphere of Ankara
Göktürk, E. H.; Al-badawi, M. B.; Aygün, S.; Caner, E. N. (Informa UK Limited, 1990-9)
Gypsum formation on calcareous building stones in the polluted atmosphere of cities is thought to be accelerated by the presence of nitrogen-containing compounds. A reliable method for nitrate and nitrite determinations is proposed and the presence of nitrogen compounds is discussed in relation to their possible influence on gypsum formation. Investigations on nitrate and nitrite determinations with ionselective electrodes have been carried out along with gypsum determinations on the samples taken from alte...

Determination of arsenic, selenium and cadmium in some Turkish spices by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry
Şenol, Feriye; Ataman, Osman Yavuz; Department of Chemistry (2010)
The major source of all the nutrient elements for human body is the daily diet which is affected by age, sex, and health status, geographic and climatic conditions. It is important to analyze food items in order to determine their elemental contents, estimate their dietary intakes and compare with recommended or tolerated intake values in order to limit or increase their consumption. Spices are taken from different parts of plants and widely used in cooking processes. They are convenient samples to investig...
Determination of platinum, palladium and rhodium in Pt-catalysts by high performance thin layer chromatography using densitometry
Aygün, Rüveyde Sezer; Merdivan, M; Kulcu, N (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1997-01-01)
The determination of palladium and platinum in alumina-supported bimetallic Pt-Re, Pd and Pt catalysts at the 0.03 and 0.3% (m/m) levels, respectively, and of rhodium and platinum in platinum sieve catalysts at the 0.04% (m/m) level and in the 4.75-19.75% (m/m) range, respectively, is described. The platinum group metals in fresh or spent catalysts are determined chromatographically using densitometry by forming their N,N-diethyl-N'-benzoylthiourea complexes. The precision of the method, %RSD, is 0.4-3.5, 2...
