Tunable integrated optical modulator with dynamical photonic band transition of photonic crystals
GÖVDELİ, ALPEREN; Kocaman, Serdar (2019-01-01)
A Mach-Zehnder Interferometer based optical modulator composed of photonic crystals as phase shifters is presented. The switching process relies on the phase modulation along the arms of interferometer resulted from the photonic band shift of the photonic crystal regions. A small bulk index change leads to a large effective index difference between two arms of the interferometer and a small foot-print device can operate as a modulator. Presented MZI-based optical modulator is shown to have tunable bandwidth...
Tunable Graphene Integrated Perfect Metamaterial Absorber for Energy Harvesting and Visible Light Communication
Sabah, Cumali (2018-02-09)
Tunable graphene integrated metamaterial absorber is proposed for energy harvesting and visible light communication. The structure provides unity absorption in the visible spectrum in which it can be used perfect absorber for energy harvesting. In addition, it also provides tunability because of the graphene conductivity to be used as photoconductive or thermal switch for visible light communication.
Tunable mechanical properties of thermoplastic foams produced by additive manufacturing
Alduais, Abdullah; Özerinç, Sezer (2023-3-01)
Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a versatile additive manufacturing technique for producing polymeric parts. Incorporating a foaming agent into the filament material enables the FDM-printing of thermoplastic foams, which opens up new possibilities for achieving desired mechanical property combinations. This study explored the process-property design space of FDM-printed polylactic acid (PLA) foams. Tensile and compression specimens were produced at a wide range of printing parameters using a commercial th...
Tunable optical properties and DFT calculations of RE3þcodoped LaBO3 phosphors
Abacı, Özde Ceren; Esentürk, Okan (2019-12-01)
In this study, single phase DyxLa1-xBO3, DyxCeyLa1-x-yBO3, DyxEuyLa1-x-yBO3, and TbxCeyLa1-x-yBO3 phosphors were successfully synthesized through the microwave assisted solid state method with urea. Synthesized com-pounds were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope, and Fluorescence spectroscopy. Thermal stabilities of the phosphors were studied with temperature dependent fluorescence measurements. In addition, density functional theory calc...
Tunable dual-frequency RF MEMS rectangular slot ring antenna
Topalli, Kagan; Erdil, Emre; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Demir, Şimşek; Koç, Seyit Sencer; Akın, Tayfun (Elsevier BV, 2009-12-01)
This paper presents the design, fabrication, and measurement of a novel, tunable, dual frequency rectangular slot antenna using RF MEMS technology. The antenna tuning is achieved by electrostatically actuated RF MEMS variable capacitors on a stub. Two different capacitor structures are implemented on the antenna: cantilever type and fixed-fixed beam type. The latter one is not sensitive to the stress on the structural layer and its measurement results agree well with the simulation results. Each antenna is ...
