Carbon Capture and Storage: Current Perspectives, Re-use Activities, and Future Prospects in Turkey
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2015-01-01)
The continuous rising of anthropogenic emission into the atmosphere as a consequence of industrial growth is becoming uncontrollable, which causes heating up of the atmosphere and changes in global climate. The complexity in the structure of geological formations and the processes involved in this method necessitates the use of revealing the potential problems, determining feasibility, storage capacity, and life span credibility. The development and commercialization of carbon dioxide capture and storage te...
Carbon regulated supply chain management
Cansız, Selcan; Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Tan, Tarkan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2010)
In this study, carbon dioxide emissions resulting from transportation are assessed, carbon emission reduction opportunities in the current service supply chain design of Cisco Systems, Inc. are explored. Among these opportunities, changing transport mode from a high-carbon transport mode to a low-carbon transport mode is found to be the most promising option and is scrutinized. The effect of transportation mode change on carbon emission and expected total cost are scrutinized by developing a mathematical mo...
Carbon fractionation and stable carbon isotopic fingerprint of road dusts near coal power plant with emphases on coal-related source apportionment
Liu, Yuan; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Zhang, Jiamei; Zhou, Li (2020-10-01)
Road dust from coal utilization is a significant source contributing to the generation of pollutants that can affect the health of people residing within close proximity to roadways. In this study, road dust samples were collected from different directions centered around a coal-fired power plant in Huainan. Black carbon (BC), soot, char, organic carbon (OC) and total carbon (TC), as well as the delta C-13 of samples, were determined. Compared to the reference locations which were distant from the power pla...

Carbon dioxide emission, electricity consumption, industrialization, and economic growth nexus: The Beninese case
Asumadu-Sarkodie, Samuel; Owusu, Phebe Asantewaa (2016-01-01)
In this study, the causal nexus between carbon dioxide emission, electricity consumption, industrialization, and economic growth was examined in Benin for the periods between 1980 and 2012 using the autoregressive distributed lag approach. Evidence from the study shows that a 1% increase in electricity consumption will increase carbon dioxide emissions by 0.56% in the short run, a 1% increase in Benin's total electricity consumption will increase carbon dioxide emissions by 0.95% in the long run, while a 1%...
