Fabrication and characterization of p-Si/n-ZnO heterostructured junctions
Klason, P.; Rahman, M. M.; Hu, Q. -H.; Nur, O.; Turan, Raşit; Willander, M. (Elsevier BV, 2009-04-01)
In this paper ZnO nanorods and nanodots (with and without a SiO2 buffer layer) were grown on p-Si, forming p-n heterojunctions. The nanorod devices showed no visible electroluminescence (EL) emission but showed rectifying behavior. Covering around 60% of the length of the nanorods with PMMA produced an ideality factor of 3.91 +/- 0.11 together with a reverse saturation current of 6.53 +/- 4.2 x 10(-8) A. Up to two orders of magnitude rectification was observed for the current at bias -3 and 3 V. The nanodot...
Fabrication and characterization of PEDOT:PSS hole transport layers for silicon solar cells
Türkay, Deniz; Yerci, Selçuk; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2019)
Heterojunction silicon solar cells have gained considerable interest in recent years with the demonstration of record-high device performances. However, these devices are typically based on inorganic layers fabricated at high temperatures under vacuum environment, using toxic precursors. The low temperature budget, non-toxic chemical contents, and wide range of adjustability in physical and electrical properties make poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) a promising candidate a...

Fabrication and investigation of extremely thin CdTe absorber layer solar cells
Hosseini, Arezoo; Erçelebi, Ayşe Çiğdem; Turan, Raşit; Department of Physics (2016)
Extremely thin absorber layer (ETA) solar cells aim to combine the advantages of using very thin and cheaply produced absorber layer on nano structured substrates with stability of all-solid-state solar cells. This type of photovoltaic devices use a nano structured interpenetrating heterojunction of thin light-absorbing layer at the interface between an n- and p-type semiconductors. N-type nano structured TiO2 layer is deposited on a Transparent Conducting Oxide coated glass (TCO) substrate, following with ...
Fabrication and characterization of silk sericin based composite films for biomedical applications
Haliloğlu, Alper; Ercan, Batur; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2023-1-18)
Silk Sericin (SS) is one of the two major proteins in silk fiber and it is discarded as a waste in the silk industry. Recently, sericin captured attention in the biomedical field due to its variable amino acid composition and diverse functional groups. The physical and chemical properties of silk sericin can be adjusted via incorporation of different secondary phase additives for biomedical applications. However, brittle nature, low mechanical properties, and inability to avoid bacterial growth by itself li...
