Contribution of Pd Membrane to Dehydrogenation of Isobutane Over a New Mesoporous Cr/MCM-41 Catalyst
ÇETİNYOKUŞ, SALİHA; DOĞAN, MELTEM; Doğu, Timur (2016-06-01)
A chromium incorporated mesoporous silicate structured Cr/MCM-41 type catalyst was synthesized following a one-pot hydrothermal route and tested in dehydrogenation of isobutane to isobutene in a Pd membrane reactor. Characterization results of the catalyst proved that it had ordered pore structure with a narrow pore size distribution. This catalyst showed quite high activity for the dehydrogenation of isobutane. Membrane reactor tests performed at 823 K proved the advantages of in-situ removal of produced h...
Contribution of boron compounds and nanoclays on the flame retardancy of aluminium diethylphosphinate in neat and fiber reinforced polyamide-6
Polat, Osman; Kaynak, Cevdet; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2014)
The main objective of this dissertation was to investigate contribution of three different boron compounds and nanoclays to the flame retardancy of polyamide-6 and its 15 wt% short glass fiber reinforced composite with and without an organophosphorus flame retardant aluminum diethylphosphinate. All material combinations and nanocomposites were compounded by melt mixing method via twin-screw extruder and the specimens for testing and analyses were shaped by injection and compression molding. In the first par...
Contribution of Nanoclays to the Performance of Traditional Flame Retardants in ABS
Ozkaraca, Ayse Cagil; Kaynak, Cevdet (Wiley, 2012-03-01)
The purpose of this study was to investigate contribution of nanoclays to the flame retardancy performance of a traditional brominated flame retardant compound with various combinations of antimony trioxide and zinc borate. The matrix polymer acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) was compounded by melt mixing in a laboratory size twin-screw extruder. X-ray diffraction analysis and transmission electron microscopy revealed that nanoclay silicate layers were mainly intercalated with certain level of exfoliati...
Contribution of ellagic acid on the antioxidant potential of medicinal plant Epilobium hirsutum
Karakurt, Serdar; SEMİZ, ASLI; Celik, Gurbet; GENÇLER ÖZKAN, AYŞE MİNE; ŞEN, ALAATTİN; Adalı, Orhan (2016-01-01)
In the present study, the possible role of ellagic acid (EA) on antioxidant potential of Epilobium hirsutum (EH) in rat liver was investigated. Wistar rats were intraperitoneally treated with 37.5 mg/kg of EH and 10 mg/kg of EA for 9 days. Effects of EH and EA on antioxidant [glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and superoxide dismutases (SOD)] and Phase II [NADPH quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) and glutathione S-transferases (GSTs)] enzyme activities, as well as protein and mRNA expressions of those, were investig...
Interaction of the cholesterol reducing agent simvastatin with zwitterionic DPPC and charged DPPG phospholipid membranes
Sariisik, Ediz; KOÇAK, MUSTAFA; Baloglu, Fatma Kucuk; Severcan, Feride (Elsevier BV, 2019-04-01)
Simvastatin is a lipid-lowering drug in the pharmaceutical group statins. Interaction of a drug with lipids may define its role in the system and be critical for its pharmacological activity. We examined the interactions of simvastatin with zwitterionic dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and anionic dipalmitoyl phosphatidylglycerol (DPPG) multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) as a function of temperature at different simvastatin concentrations using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and differentia...
