In-situ generation of poly(n-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)-stabilized palladium(0) and ruthenium(0) nanoclusters as catalysts for hydrogen generation from the methanolysis of ammonia-borane
Erdoğan, Huriye; Özkar, Saim; Department of Chemistry (2010)
More attention has been paid to find new type renewable energy sources because of increasing concern about the environmental problems arising from the combustion of fossil fuels as energy sources. The development of new storage materials will facilitate the use of hydrogen as a major energy carrier. Several possibilities exist for ‘‘solid-state’’ storage: the hydrogen can be trapped in metal organic frameworks, carbon nanotubes and certain alloys; or one can use materials in which hydrogen is already presen...
In-flight calibration of pico satellite attitude sensors via unscented kalman filter
Söken, Halil Ersin (Pleiades Publishing Ltd, 2011-07-01)
In this paper an Unscented Kalman filter based procedure is proposed for the bias estimation of attitude sensors of a pico satellite. Three axis magnetometers and the rate gyros are used as attitude sensors. At the initial phase, biases of three orthogonally located magnetometers are estimated as well as the attitude and attitude rates of the satellite. During initial period after the orbit injection, gyro measurements are accepted as bias free, since the precise gyros are working accurately and the accumul...
In-vivo testing of biological bulk soft tissues by a non-axisymmetric tip indenter using displacement and force control
Ashrafi, Parinaz; Tönük, Ergin; Bozkurt, Murat; Department of Biomedical Engineering (2015)
Soft tissues of human body have complex structures and different mechanical behaviors than those of traditional engineering materials. There is a great urge to understand tissue behavior of human body. Experimental data is needed for improvement of soft tissue modeling and advancement in implants and prosthesis, as well as diagnosis of diseases. Mechanical behavior and responses change when tissue loses its liveliness and viability. One of the techniques for soft tissue testing is indentation, which is appl...
In-Strip Matching and Reconstruction of Line Segments from UHR Aerial Image Triplets
Ok, Ali Ozgun; Wegner, Jan Dirk; Heipke, Christian; Rottensteiner, Franz; Soergel, Uwe; Toprak, Vedat (2011-10-07)
In this study, we propose a new line matching and reconstruction methodology for aerial image triplets that are acquired within a single strip. The newly developed stereo reconstruction approach gives us better line predictions in the third image which in turn helps to improve the performance of the matching. The redundancy information generated in each stereo match gives us ability to reduce the number of false matches while preserving high levels of matching completeness. The approach is tested over four ...
