In this study, horizontal temperature measurements along organized grids have been used to detect subaqueous hot springs. The study area, located in the southwest of Turkey and comprised of Koycegiz Lake, Dalyan Channel and Fethiye-Gocek Bay, was scanned by measuring temperatures horizontally, 2-3 m above the bottom of the lake or sea. After analyzing the temperature data along the grids, the locations with anomalous temperature values were detected, and divers headed here for further verification. Accordin...
Hydrothermal alteration products in the vicinity of the Ahirozu kaolin deposits, Mihaliccik-Eskisehir, Turkey

The mineralogy, texture and composition of rocks associated with the kaolin deposits in the Ahirozu-Hamidiye-Ucbasli area, SE of Mihaliccik, Eskisehir, Turkey, were investigated. In the study area, Triassic, blue-green schists and serpentinized ultramafic rocks are exposed. Kaolinization occurs at the contact between a Triassic granitic intrusion and metamorphic rocks. Textural and mineralogical characteristics were identified by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-r...
Hydrogeochemical Properties of Geothermal Fields at Northeastern Anatolia

In Anatolia which is one of exceptional continental regions hosting both Neogene volcanism and tectonism, the geothermal potential is quite high due to unique geological and tectonic structures. In recent years, the geothermal resources in western Anatolia, whose geothermal potential is well defined, are successfully used in a wide range of applications such as energy production, district heating, thermal tourism and greenhouse heating. However, the geothermal resources of northeastern Anatolia (NEA) have b...

Cyclic Carbonate Facies Changes on the Middle to Upper Cenomanian Arabian Carbonate Platform, SE Turkey: An Approach for the Causes of Short- and Long-Term Sea-Level Change
Yılmaz, İsmail Ömer; Mülayim, Oğuz; Sarı, Bilal; Simmons, Mike (2017-08-26)
The studied Cenomanian shallow water platform carbonates of the Derdere Formation lies on the northern Arabian platform in Mardin area, SE Turkey. The sedimentology and cyclic nature of the facies along the studied composite sections have been analysed in terms of cyclostratigraphy. In the lower section, alternations of benthic foraminiferal-algal packstone/wackestone and bioturbated bioclastic wackstone/lime mudstone take place at the base of small scale cycles. Alternations of bivalve/ostracod wackestone/...
