Knock rating of gaseous fuels in a modified cooperative fuel research (CFR) engine
Bodur, İlter İmran; Yozgatlıgil, Ahmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2015)
The objective of this study is to determine the Research Octane Number (RON) of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) using a Cooperative Fuel Research (CFR) engine. In order to do this, a series of modifications were carried out on the engine components including piston and fuel feeding system prior to the experiments. The experiments were conducted on a wide range of LPG fuel compositions, consisting of various volumetric ratios of propane, iso-butane, n-butane, and trace amount of olefins to determine the RON of...
Snap-through buckling analyses of composite shallow spherical shells
Akkas, N; Toroslu, R (1999-10-01)
The purpose of this work is to present some numerical results on nonlinear, snap-through buckling of shallow spherical shells made of laminated composite materials under general static loading. Isotropic shells are covered as a special case of the general problem. A special-purpose finite-difference computer program has been developed. Moreover, the general-purpose computer program ANSYS has also been used. Effects of various material properties on the nonlinear behavior of the shells are investigated. One ...
Line Current Analysis for Bearing fault Detection In Induction Motors Using Hilbert Transform Phase
Oumaamar, M. E. K.; Razik, H.; Rezzoug, A.; Khezzar, A. (2011-09-10)
The present paper focuses by means of an experimental study, on the effect of a bearing fault on the stator current signatures in induction motors. The variation in the amplitude of the characteristic components is not so significant. For that and in order to depict the presence of the fault harmonic signatures, the authors used the phase analysis of Hilbert transform applied on the spectrum modulus of the line current.

Fan and pitch angle selection for efficient mine ventilation using analytical hierachy process and neuro fuzzy approach
Taghizadeh Vahed, Amir; Demirel, Nuray; Güyagüler, Tevfik; Department of Mining Engineering (2012)
Ventilation is a critical task in underground mining operation. Lack of a good ventilation system causes accumulation of harmful gases, explosions, and even fatalities. A proper ventilation system provides adequate fresh air to miners for a safe and comfortable working environment. Fans, which provide air flow to different faces of a mine, have great impact in ventilation systems. Thus, selection of appropriate fans for a mine is the acute task. Unsuitable selection of a fan decreases safety and production ...
