Dose rate effects in the radiation damage of the plastic scintillators of the CMS hadron endcap calorimeter
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2016-10-07)
We present measurements of the reduction of light output by plastic scintillators irradiated in the CMS detector during the 8 TeV run of the Large Hadron Collider and show that they indicate a strong dose rate effect. The damage for a given dose is larger for lower dose rate exposures. The results agree with previous measurements of dose rate effects, but are stronger due to the very low dose rates probed. We show that the scaling with dose rate is consistent with that expected from diffusion effects.
Time-Limited Counseling Outcome in Nationwide College Counseling Center Sample
Drapper, Matt; Jennings, J.; Baron, A.; Erdur Baker, Özgür (2002-07-01)
This study examined the dose‐effect relationship between the number of sessions and therapeutic outcome in a large, nationwide counseling center research consortium. A positive relationship was found between the outcome of counseling and the number of sessions attended. The results of this study support the effectiveness of brief psychotherapy.
Dose dependence effect of thermoluminescence process in TlInS2:Nd single crystals
Kadari, Ahmed; Delice, Serdar; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2017-01-01)
In this paper, thermoluminescence (TL) properties of TlInS2:Nd single crystals were modeled using an interactive model (one trap and one kind of recombination center). The simulated work presented here was based on the experiment conducted by Delice et al. The thermoluminescence glow curve of TlInS2:Nd single crystals has been characterized by one main peak at 26 K, which confirm the presence of one active electron trap level in the forbidden band of this material. The model used in this work is similar to ...
Patient privacy and consent management in health
Alpay, Erdem; Toroslu, İsmail Hakkı; Doğaç, Asuman; Department of Computer Engineering (2012)
Health information of patients are preserved either in Electronic Health Records (EHR) repositories which are generally managed in national level or in local hospital systems. However, the real owners of the data are always the patients themselves, without depending where or by whom the data is preserved. Patients should have the rights to permit or deny the access of modification of their information to whoever they want. Here comes the concept of Consent. Consent means provision of approval or agreement, ...
PROLONGED GRIEF IN LIMB LOSS: A MIXED DESIGN STUDY
Alma, Leyla; Öner Özkan, Bengi; Işıklı, Sedat; Department of Psychology (2023-3-28)
Human beings are prone to loss or threat to lose in each stage of life, and the grief is inevitable. However, if the grief process becomes incomplete and lasts more than expected, mourners suffer from Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD). This study aimed to examine the role of the PGD in an amputee sample and was planned to be two-folded using both quantitative and qualitative methods. In the first study, it was aimed to examine the relationship among prolonged grief, psychological symptoms, the association of f...
