Ordovician graptolites from the basal part of the Palaeozoic transgressive sequence in the Karadere area, Zonguldak Terrane, NW Turkey
Göncüoğlu, Mehmet Cemal; Gutierrez-Marco, Juan Carlos; OKUYUCU, CENGİZ (2014-12-20)
The Karadere area to the east of Safranbolu in NW Anatolia is one of the very few localities in Turkey where the contact between the Cadomian basement and the Lower Palaeozoic transgressive succession is well exposed. The Ordovician graptolite Rhabdinopora flabelliformis (Eichwald) ssp. was found in the basal part of the Bakacak Formation, indicating an Early to early Late Tremadocian age for the beginning of the Palaeozoic transgression in the Zonguldak terrane. A few metres above this occurrence, another ...

Origamics in Architecture: A Medium of Inquiry or Design in Architecture
Hagiwara, Ichiro; Sorguç, Arzu; Selçuk, Semra Arslan (Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, 2009-01-01)
The Japanese craft of “origami” has proved itself as being a valuable tool to develop various engineering and design applications in numerous fields. Several patterns developed by Dr. Nojima Taketoshi ranging from environmentally friendly containers (pet bottles, plastic containers, cans and et. al) to medical applications such as stents, catheters, from vehicle parts to new insulation material configurations, from robotics to education are sources of inspiration for many other research studies (Hagiwara 20...
Allelopathic effects of the aquatic macrophyte Ceratophyllum demersum L. on phytoplankton species: Contrasting effects between cyanobacteria and chlorophytes Efeitos alelopáticos da macrófita aquática Ceratophyllum demersum L. Sobre espécies fitoplanctônicas: efeitos contrastantes entre cianobactérias e clorófitas
Alves Amorım, Cıhelıo; de Moura-Falcão, Rafael Henrique; Valença, Celina Rebeca; de Souza, Vitor Ricardo; Moura, Ariadne Do Nascimento (2019-01-01)
Aim: To assess the allelopathic effects of the submerged macrophyte Ceratophyllum demersum on four strains of phytoplankton species: two cyanobacteria (Microcystis aeruginosa-microcystin producing and M. panniformis-non-microcystin producing), and two chlorophytes (Ankistrodesmus falcatus and Raphidocelis subcapitata). Methods: A coexistence experiment between C. demersum and the four strains was carried out for six days, with eight treatments and three replicates. e strains were cultivated in ASM1 culture ...
