Layer-by-layer deposition of tannic acid and poly(2isopropyl-2-oxazoline) onto iron oxide nanoparticles
Akbar, Majid; Erel Göktepe, İrem; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2017)
Layer-by-layer (LbL) technique is a simple and unique technique for fabrication of thin films. It is possible to control the film properties during assembly and post-assembly steps. Stimuli responsive polymers are important building blocks for LbL assembly, especially for drug delivery applications of LbL films. Iron oxide nanoparticles have been of interest for biomedical applications such as bioimaging and/or drug delivery via magnetothermal trigger. This thesis study aimed to develop strategies for layer...

Layer-by-layer films of block copolymer micelles with cores exhibiting upper critical solution temperature behaviour
Ustoglu, Cansu; Çağlı, Eda; Erel Göktepe, İrem (Elsevier BV, 2017-11-01)
We report on preparation of block copolymer micelles with cores exhibiting upper critical solution temperature (UCST) behavior in the range of 40-45 degrees C at pH 7.5 and incorporation of such micelles into layer-by-layer (LbL) films to obtain UCST-type milltilayer films. Pyridine units of poly(2-vinylpyridine-b-ethylene oxide) (P2VP-b-PEO) were partially quaternized and its self-assembly into micellar aggregates was achieved in the presence of potassium hexacyanoferrate (K3Fe(CN)(6)p) at pH 7.5 at either...
Layer-By-Layer Modified Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles with Stimuli-Responsive Drug Release Properties
Akbar, Majid; Çağlı, Eda; Erel Göktepe, İrem (2019-02-01)
Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) are synthesized through ultrasound based coprecipitation method. SPIONs are coated with poly(2-isopropyl-2-oxazoline) (PIPOX) and tannic acid (TA) in a layer-by-layer (LbL) fashion at pH 4 and 25 degrees C. PIPOX/TA coated SPIONs are then loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) at pH 7.5 and 25 degrees C. DOX release from LbL-coated SPIONs is examined at pH 7.5 and pH 6 at 25 degrees C, 37 degrees C, and 42 degrees C. LbL-coated SPIONs exhibit dual responsive behavi...
Layer-parallel shortening and related structures in zones undergoing active regional horizontal extension
Şengör, Ali Mehmet Celal; Bozkurt, Erdin (2013-01-01)
Folds and thrust faults formed by layer-parallel shortening coaxial with extensional structures such as normal dip-slip faults and ductile necking structures with orthorhombic fabric symmetry are usual, but little-recognised structures formed within normal dip-slip shear zones bounding rifts. They are generated because of the shear distribution in a zone of progressive deformation and may be later extended and disrupted depending on which part of the strain ellipsoid they may be located. We here describe fo...
